Jessica Nebel, Executive Director A note from the President... At United Way of Hill County (UW), we could describe ourselves in just one word . . . Thankful! Thankful that in a time, when there are so many causes to support, our local community believes in our vision, sees the difference UW is making and chooses to support our activities. People of all ages are impacted everyday by the serv i c e s t h a t U W s u p p o r t s. Children, teens, the elderly and just those who are struggling and need a helping hand all benefit from the support of UW. We are thankful that UW can assist those residents at a time when they need someone most through our Funded Partners – wonderful organizaVON tions like Salvation Army, CA SA ( C o u r t A p p o i n t e d Special Advocates), Meals on Wheels, Havre Food Bank, Feed My Sheep Soup Kitchen, Domestic Abuse Program, Hill County
Family Planning, HRDC Adult Basic Literacy Program, and Havre Senior Center. These organizations make our community members’ lives better! I am also very thankful for our local UW Board of Directors. These busy community members volunteer so much of their time and energy to make UW’s presence felt among our area residents. We kicked off our 2015 Fundraising Campaign with our first ever Crab Boil. It was a very fun evening, and we were overwhelmed by the attendance and the generosity of all of you!!! However, we can’t stop there!! Too many people need our support and STEIN that means we need YOUR support. Please help UW continue their good works in our community and please support our 2015 Fundraising Campaign!.

2015 Board of Directors
United Way of Hill County Funded Partners “Without the financial support of United Way, the Food Bank would not be able to keep its doors open. We are very thankful for the community support of United Way.” Diane Savasten Getten, Food Bank Director The Food Bank distributed 118664 pounds of food to 3237 Adults and 2278 Children which would not have happened without the United Way support. “CASA of Hill County is thankful for the United Way and the community support we receive because their support – your support – makes it possible to stretch all of our dollars a little further. Community donations through the United Way help us recruit and train volunteers, as well as support those volunteers in their vital work to serve the most vulnerable children in our community. CASA runs a tight ship, and these funds allow us to go the extra mile: to visit that child who is living halfway across the state from her family; to reach that extra volunteer; to provide that special training to our advocates. Quite simply, the support we receive from the community through the United Way makes it possible for us to do just a little bit more for our children.” Mark Douglass, Executive Director CASA, so far, in 2015, we have served 51 children, and are on track to serve 65-70 children in Hill County for the year. “The Salvation Army – Havre Service Center is thankful for United Way donations because they enable us to help MORE people. We use the funds to give a hand up to those in need and provide the tools to stand on one’s own two feet.” The Salvation Army of Havre has helped 1,832 members since January 1 2015, 723 served unduplicated. ”Family Planning is thankful for United Way donations because without these donations we would not be able to provide low-cost reproductive health exams, cancer screening, HIV & Hepatitis C testing, which are critical to improving health outcomes”. Family Planning (whose fiscal year is July 1- June 30th) has seen 420 unduplicated patients (for a total of 702 visits) and 94.76 of them were poverty patients.
The HRDC Adult Basic Literacy Program is thankful for United Way donations and this community’s generosity because these funds provide scholarships for adults to take their HiSET exam (formally GED), improving their earning capabilities. HRDC Adult Basic Literacy Program plans to give 14 scholarships and pay 20 testing site vouchers. Feed My Sheep has served 14,903 meals through September – averaging around 1660 meals per month The Domestic Abuse Program is critical to our community. It provides a safe place for victims to escape, along with caring professionals to help assist them in rebuilding a stable life for themselves and their children. Year to date, the Domestic Abuse Program has served 249 victims of domestic and sexual abuse – all new incidents of violence. They have also provided 40 families with food, taken 247 crisis calls, assisted 76 clients with temporary and permanent orders of protection, and provided 59 clients with transportation to safety.

The Hill County Senior Center promotes active engagement and enjoyment of life for older adults by offering multiple services in one centralized location. The center serves a vital role in our community, providing meals, transportation, and an array of activities and services for aging community members, helping improve their physical, social, spiritual, emotional, and metal well-being. Meals on Wheels has provided nutritional meals to Hill County’s elderly residents for the last 45 years, allowing them to remain independent in their homes for as long as possible. Currently, Meals on Wheels can offer only ONE meal per day. United Way donations help fund additional meals for the Meals on Wheels program and ensure our community’s elderly do not go hungry.
