Landscapes, still life and surreal metamorphoses are the trademarks of Sergey Sologub's artistic vision. The first impression one is given upon viewing his work is of meticulously detailed refinement and harmony, but on closer inspection a world of paradoxical angles and unusual juxtapositions unfurls, surprising and disorienting the viewer. A still life arranged from art books, crockery and other everyday objects surprises us with its impossible angles and implausible construction, its harmony turned upside-down. Sergey Sologub is a player of games, a twister of reality. His mixture of classical composition and technique with often surreal subjects creates a world which is at once beautiful but also sets out to challenge the viewer's perceptions.
