the fish tank the concept of a sustainable system between the asheville community, local at-risk youth, and a culinary institute is solved by the fish tank. the benefits of a japanese cuisine oriented restaurant and sushi bar will serve as a connector piece between them. clemson university ARCH 8420 spring 2019

peripatetic peripatetic, or the ungrounding of being, is a place on the campus of clemson university where anyone is welcome to spend time remembering loved ones who left this world too soon. the concept of life’s delicacy and beauty was compared to a butterfly. the two main characteristics, being the beautiful shape and the ability to softly touch the ground, directly transferred into the thin building shell and fragile reflecting rooms underneath. clemson university ARCH 8410 fall 2018

farmers’ market our idea was to take the original use of the site, a once booming city fairground, and refurbish it in hopes of attracting and serving the community in a similar fashion. as a ferris wheel continuously directs movement within a predetermined loop creating the same experience throughout, our market structure mimics this. ensuring that each farmer feels as important as their competitors was a very important consideration throughout the design process. university of missouri-columbia ARCHST 3182 spring 2016 studio team: j.wilbur, c.howser, o.brouster and m.bargetzi

the shado box a hand drafted interpretation of plato’s allegory of the cave, this building installation emphasizes the influence that light has on comfortability. with the manipulation of wall thicknesses and material transparency, each of the three boxes offers a different level of comfortability. the darkest box has the thinnest corridor width to represent a cave’s visual entry, which is contradicted by the lightest box which represents the exit experience. the interaction between spaces is visible as the user approaches the building, and in turn, they become shadows to others following behind them. clemson university ARCH 8410 fall 2018

practical work
connell architecture, p.c.

while interning full-time over the course of a year-and-a-half with connell architecture in columbia, mo, i have learned crucial structural and technical skills needed to successfully produce construction documents. i worked fully in autocad to create floor plans, building and wall sections, enlarged details, and elevations for local commercial and residential projects. the exposure to the practical design side expanded my interest in the exponential number of pieces to a building whole that determines its’ buildability, as well as the anticipation of working with real clients. morphology fike recreation center design analysis
18 20 22
morphology the study of structural morphology originates with the reconstruction of the shanghai pudong international airport. using the studied form, a morphological source was identified and received various operative manuevers to become an alternative configuration. this was further adjusted, with careful consideration to avoid compromise to the structural strength, to form the final design configuration of a hedgehog. the difficulty of connecting step one to the final step supports the great importance of the logic of each intermediate step within this process. clemson university ARCH 8700 fall 2018

fike recreation center this isometric axon represents the structural haiku of fike recreation center, specifically the mchugh natatorium, on clemson university’s campus. by focusing the section into primary, secondary and tertiary assembly components of the building, similar to the haiku narrative, it quickly becomes clear how the production strengthens the interior experience for clemson students.
