Thank you to all our readers who cast more than 32,000 votes for their favorite businesses or services in the North Hays County area.

Our most winning business in our readership area is Abuelita’s Bakery Spot. Abuelita’s, established in December 2020, opened its physical location in Kyle on May 31, 2022. In the business’ first time in the contest, it won in five categories: Best Bakery, Best Breakfast, Best Breakfast Taco, Best Dessert and Best Overall Service. The competition was tight and, in a crazy twist, Abuelita’s tied with previous two-time most winning business, Hays City Store, for first place for Best Restaurant Service, bringing Abuelita’s win total to six. Hays City Store took the win in four additional categories, including Best Atmosphere, Best Chicken Fried Steak, Best Family-Dining and Best Margarita, bringing its total win count to five. With five wins, Hays City Store then tied with Triple Elevation Custom Creations for the second most winning business of 2022. Triple Elevation won Most Helpful Employees, Best Photographer, Best Wedding Photographer, Best Clothing Store and Best Graphic Design. Talk about a Jill-of-all-trades!

We had one business that won first place in four categories, Texican Café in Kyle, with the win in Best Mexican Cuisine, Best Mexican Martini, Best Queso and Best Salsa.

A record five businesses won in three categories: Amici Cucina Italiana, Ascension Seton Hays Hospital, Austin Regional Clinic Kyle Plum Creek, Nate’s and Steel Horse Constructors.

Amici Cucina Italiana in Buda won Best Catering, Best Food Truck and Best Restaurant.

Ascension Seton Hays won Best Emergency Room, Best Hospital and Best Nursing Staff (Facility).

Austin Regional Clinic Kyle Plum Creek won Best Audiology Clinic, Best Hearing Aids and Best Urgent Care Center.

Nate’s in Buda won Best Coldest Beer, Best Local Beer and Best Martini.

Steel Horse Constructors won Best Contractor (Residential), Best Flooring/ Carpet and Best Remodeling.

Barton Publications appreciates the continued support of each of the businesses in our contest, as well as the voters who come back each year to show their favorite businesses some love.
