Home Builders Charitable Foundation Donates $60,000+ in 2021

Astrong, livable neighborhood should be available to all in our society. That is why the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City (KCHBA) established the Home Builders Charitable Foundation (HBCF). Started in 2002 and relaunched in 2018, the HBCF is pleased to announce that it donated more than $60,000 to local non-profits in 2021.

One of the priorities of the HBCF is promoting education related to the construction industry, such as scholarships and special projects. Of the 24 organizations the HBCF supported last year, nine were KC-area schools preparing students for careers in residential construction:

• Bonner Springs School District • Career and Technology Center at Fort Osage • Excelsior Springs Area Career Center • Independence School District • Johnson County Community College • Liberty High School • Northland Career Center

• Olathe Advanced Technical Center

• Pittsburg State University Other organizations in the Kansas City area that the HBCF supported with donations include: • Amethyst Place • Builders Development Corporation • Coldwater

• Community Housing of Wyandotte Co. • Friends of Johnson County

Developmental Services • Habitat for Humanity Kansas

City • HopeBuilders • Hope House • Inclusion Connections KC

• KidsTLC

• Metro Lutheran Ministry • Noah’s Bandage Project • Rebuilding Together Kansas

City • Harry S. Truman Children’s Neurological Center, dba TNC

Community • United Inner City Services The HBCF did support one organization outside of the KC metro, which was the Louisiana Home Builders Association Disaster Relief Fund to assist with the rebuilding of homes after the deadly and destructive category 4 hurricane Ida, which became the second-most damaging and intense hurricane to make landfall in the state of Louisiana on record.

Thank you to everyone who donated to the Home Builders Charitable Foundation. To see a full list of donors, more details on some of the organizations that received funds, and a list of who leads your Home Builders Charitable Foundation, read the foundation’s 2021 annual report on kchba.org>About Us>Foundation. With the residential construction industry by our side, we believe we can build foundations for the future for everyone.

In the December issue of BBN we incorrectly stated in a headline that First Federal Bank donated $50,000 to Veterans Community Project. North American Savings Bank (NASB) is the financial institution that donated that money to VCP, not First Federal. We apologize for the error!
