FORMER REAL COUNTY SHERIFFS HONORED WITH PLAQUE by Julie Becker

“Always remember where you come from and how you got there.” was proven in Real County, Texas this past Tuesday. Real County Sheriff Nathan T. Johnson gave the respect and admiration due the former Sheriff’s of Real County. Johnson assembled the former Sheriff’s of Real County and presented them with plaques of the Law Man’s Code. In addition there is now a large plaque displayed in the Sheriff’s Department Office listing all of the Sheriff’s names starting in 1913 when Real County came into existence. A large crowd gathered for the presentation and toured the Sheriff’s department afterwards. Johnson said “Since 1913 there have been 17 Sheriff’s of Real

County and it is interesting that I am the 17th Sheriff in the year of 2017.” Johnson went on to honor and present plaques to Lana Carr representing late Sheriff Bruce Carr (2015-2017), Sheriff James Earl Brice (1986-2014) Sheriff Buck Miller (19781982) and Sheriff Roger Carlile (1985-1986). “Thank you so much for your service and the path that you pushed ahead, my staff will continue to stand on your shoulders and take another generation forward.” Thank on behalf of Real County for all the love, care, service, time loss and the part of your life you dedicated to this county. The ladies of the local DAR Chapter registered each veteran and family and had keepsakes and information for each veteran. Especially honored were the Vietnam Veterans.

It was a great opportunity to recognize our community members, highlight our military, and take a moment to appreciate those that have served. · We are preparing for our December administration of the high school End of Course STAAR tests. This is an opportunity for students to retake the EOC exams if they were not successful on the summer administration. Luci Harmon also presented the Food Services Report for the month saying: · Things are running well in the cafeteria. · Our Thanksgiving lunch is this Thursday (Nov. 16), and I hope it will be the best ever. The only down fall it that we can’t serve everyone on the new blue trays · And again I want to thank everyone for helping it really does make a difference. Last week Billye found out we were shorthanded at the al-a-carte, so she jumped right in and helped. Girls Athletic Director Brandy Sweeten reported: · On Nov. 6th, our Girls CC Team competed at the State CC Meet in Round Rock. They did not disappoint. They placed 14th overall, and every runner ran their best time of the season. As a team, they ran better than they did the year before at State. We would like to congratulate the girls and Coach Kramer on a fantastic season. They competed well, finished strong, and surprised many of their surrounding opponents by out-classing them. You placed the bar high for the beginning of the year in Panther land. Boys Athletic Director Keith Hughes reported: · JH Football ends this week with the final game being played in Medina. The boys have played well, and should end up 2nd in district. The varsity boys will need a victory in their final game at Medina or help from other teams to continue the season. We had a great comeback win against Eden on Homecoming night, and then failed to show up altogether the following week in Lometa. If the game in Medina does not go well, or other help does not come, then basketball will be coming soon.

· We are estimating to have 17 JH basketball players and 14 HS Basketball players. In the Transportation Report to the School Board Stephen Smith reported: · The new bus is having a sensor replaced. · Bus 19 is awaiting parts for an electrical repair. In the Maintenance Report to the School Board Stephen Smith reported: · He is now certified in Asbestos and Integrated Pest Management and will continue with these duties in an even greater capacity. · Changes are being made to the loading and unloading area at the Elementary to improve safety. Dr. Walter (with hand on her hip) directing the mission excavation.

REAL COUNTY HISTORICAL COMMISSION MEETING DR. TAMRA WALTER, GUEST SPEAKER The Real County Historical Commission will be meeting Saturday, November 18, at 2:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. in Camp Wood at the Senior Citizens Activity Center at 201 Fourth Street, across the street from the Camp Wood Fire Department. Our meetings are open to the public, and everyone is welcome to join us. If you missed the 2017 Texas Tech and Texas Archeology Field School excavation of the Mission San Lorenzo de la Santa Cruz in Camp Wood this past summer, you will want to attend this meeting. We are excited to have Dr. Tamra Walter as our guest speaker and presenter. She is the director of archeological investigations at the Mission San Lorenzo and will be returning summer 2018 to continue the archeological work with students from TTU and Texas Archeology Society field school participants. About returning, Dr. Walter said, “While we accomplished a great deal this summer, we still have more work to do! In addition to expanding excavations at the mission, we are looking forward to exploring new areas for survey and recording newly discovered archaeological sites. We can build upon the 2017 season’s investigations and move one step closer to revitalizing this important mission site.” Please join us November 18 to hear about this past summer’s excavation and plans for the future for Mission San Lorenzo. See you all there!

Students and parents encouraged to apply for college financial aid early Uvalde, TX, – One of the most frequently asked questions is “How early can I apply for financial aid?” The answer, “the earlier, the better.” This year the Free Application for Federal Student Aid or FAFSA was made available to students three months earlier than before. Potential and current college students could have filled out the application as early as Oct. 1., which is the date the FAFSA will now be available in the future. The goal of the earlier time for the FAFSA is to make it coincide with the college application process. If you are a high school senior and haven’t completed the application yet, you should not wait any longer. Some of the most beneficial financial aid funds given by the federal government, state agencies, scholarship foundations and colleges and are on a first come, first served basis. The sooner you submit your FAFSA, the sooner your school can receive your results and evaluate your situation. Every year the Department of Education provides over $150 billion in Federal Student Aid in the form of grants, workstudy, and loans. This aid assists students to pay for expenses such as tuition & fees, room & board, books, and supplies as well as transportation. Other items the funding can help students with are computers for school use and dependent care while the student attends school. In order to qualify for aid, a person must: demonstrate financial need; be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen; have a valid

Social Security number; register for Selective Service if you are a male between the ages of 18 and 25; show you have a high school diploma, GED or completed a high school education in a home-school setting approved under state law; and maintain satisfactory academic progress in college or a career school. The StudentAid.gov website is an excellent source to find out more about eligibility for financial aid and answer questions you may have about financial aid. “We encourage all current and prospective college students to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible to potentially qualify for the most aid,” said SWTJC Financial Aid Director, Yvette Hernandez. “Our staff has been working hard with area high school students since October 1 at FAFSA Lab Nights to assist families with completing the FAFSA and learning about financial aid. Students are required to submit a FAFSA each year. The goal of the earlier date for the FAFSA was to make it more in line with the college application process. The website to complete the financial aid application is www.fafsa.gov. Registration for the spring semester is now open at Southwest Texas Junior College. Anyone interested in enrolling in classes can go to their nearest campus to register or go to www.swtjc.edu for more information.

Moves Made To Regain Control Of Neglected Scout Camp Restore Access On Behalf Of Southwest Texas Area Youth submitted by Andrew Aelvoet, Attorney for the Fawcett Trustees

In response to inattention to the needs of Boy Scouts from the Southwest Texas area on the part of the Texas Southwest Council of Boy Scouts of America, a group of five Trustees filed an action in the Edwards County, Texas, courthouse which reverts control of property known as Camp Fawcett back to the Fawcett Trustees. In 1930, a tract of land located in Edwards County, known as Camp Fawcett, was conveyed to a group of Southwest Texas civic leaders, known as the Fawcett Trustees, for the use and benefit of Southwest Texas youth. Decades ago, the then-current Fawcett trustees entrusted a scouting council to utilize the camp to benefit area youth. But the council has instead limited area youth’s ability to use it, in favor of their own incomeproducing goals. The Fawcett Trustees intend to make improvements to the camp and quickly return the property to its original intended focus, to benefit Southwest Texas area

youth, including boy scouts, girl scouts, church groups, and the like, explained Andrew Aelvoet, a lawyer for the trustees. Camp Fawcett originated in 1930, when a group of area citizens conveyed the property to the original Fawcett Trustees to benefit youth in a several county area in and around Edwards County. The Fawcett Trustees and their successors, together with the scouting council and the subsequent successor councils, managed the camp for decades. However, problems arose in the last year which made it increasingly clear that managing the camp for the benefit of area youth was not a priority of the Texas Southwest Council. The most recent of several incidents demonstrating the council’s lack of focus on Southwest Texas area youth was when the council denied scout troops’ requests to utilize the camp, in favor of leasing the property yeararound to a group of hunters from the Houston area. The move

effectively locked scouts out of the camp, except at times convenient to the hunters. “This action restores the intended purpose by returning the focus of the camp to activities benefitting the youth of Southwest Texas that it was always intended to serve,” Aelvoet explained. “It is no more appropriate for hunters to control a boy scout camp than it would be for scouts to camp in the middle of a deer hunt,” Aelvoet said. “This, and other incidents experienced in the last year, made it clear that the Texas Southwest Council no longer prioritizes the needs of area youth with respect to the camp. Meanwhile, the Fawcett Trustees will,” he said.

Train up a child and continue praying Every child, whether they turned out wonderful or less than desirable, is to some degree the product of a mom and dad. It’s true that some parents have invested very little enthusiasm into their children’s development, but generally speaking, mothers and fathers dearly love their kids and want the best for them. Unfortunately, things do not always go as planned and many wayward children have caused their family much worry, sadness, and disappointment. Spectators are quick to blame the parents, but I do not believe that all liability can be laid at their doorstep. Moms and dads have the perfect opportunity to present constructive thinking and a sense of right and wrong into their children’s mind and spirit within the formative years, however this does not always guarantee the child will continue in the direction they were pointed. It’s a common fact; sometimes good parents have children that are rebellious, uncontrollable, and are an embarrassing shame. Children are like sponges when it comes to learning and are very curious about what they observe, which gives every parent the duel opportunity to not only be the instructors but

also the responsibility to demonstrate what they believe in front of them. We must also include that children are vulnerable to outside influences and will choose their own way. So, how important is it to pray over our children? Many experts agree that the first six years in a child’s life is his or her most important years of mental, emotional and spiritual development. It’s believed that the foundation that is laid within the individual’s conscience during this crucial period of time becomes the decision filter they will use for the rest of their life. It’s no secret that young parents are inexperienced when they begin raising children of their own, but we can also acknowledge the level of success can be traced back to their own childhood. The generational cycle of curses and blessings are very real and it’s generally accepted that knowledge is transferred from generation to generation (whether it be positive or negative) and is directly associated with behavior. There are exceptions where parents have realized their own lack of understanding and have made it a priority to improve the cycle for the sake of their children. Unfortunately, this

Garrison died after a brief illness on Nov. 5. 2017. She was born March 25, 1926 at the Davis Ranch in NE Uvalde Co. to Bob Davis and Annie Lee Davis. With her seven brothers and sisters, Lora B. helped her parents run their Angora Goat operation. Lora B. married Roger William Garrison on June 20, 1942 in Uvalde and the couple embarked on a thirty-year career in the Air Force. With their growing family they moved frequently throughout Texas, the United States and the world. Assignments took them to Nashville, Tn., Corpus Christi, Tx., San Antonio, Tx., Montgomery, Al., Bloomington, In., College Station, Tx., and Sumter, S.C. Overseas assignments included Guam, France and Thailand. They returned to the Davis Ranch in 1971 where they built a home on Blanket Creek off FM 1050. Lora B. was a home maker and milliner (having made hats for Lady Bird Johnson and Alice Roosevelt Longworth among other Washington luminaries). After returning to the Hill Country she became interested in genealogy and the folk history of Frio Canyon pioneers. She began collecting oral histories which she published in regional publications and Texas Folklore Society books. In the 1980s she wrote a column called “Stomping Grounds” for the Uvalde Leader-News. Her interest in local history led her to become a professional story teller and over the years she made many appearances at schools, libraries and festivals to share her stories of the early pioneers of the Frio Canyon. The Garrison home became a popular bed and breakfast inn in the 1980s. Guests returned often, and many became friends. Honors included Woman of the Year by Texas Press Women in 1984. is rare. Parents can discover valuable information when they desire to learn but unfortunately this is usually the problem. Parenting requires not only a deeper understanding but also a sincere determination instead of a “rolling the dice” attitude. Again, if the parent has been brought up with an awareness of how important it is to live in God’s presence and obey Him, then most likely these spiritual principals will be passed on to the next generation. Does this idea of good parents producing good children always work? Well, through the years, I have talked with many broken-hearted moms and dads that are still trying to figure out where they went wrong. They seem to be good Christian people who live a decent moral life, they took their kids to church, corrected them and tried to teach them the best they could. While attempting to console and search for an explanation, this scripture found in Proverbs 22:6, usually finds its way to the surface. “Train up a child in the way they should go, and when they are old, they will not depart from it.” The idea here is to remind us that if good seed

has been planted within the heart of the child, God’s living Word will eventually germinate and lead them into His way. Sadly, there are so many bewildered parents who are confused and stressed as they are still waiting for this miracle to take place. What can parents do? First of all we can stand in faith and believe that God’s promises never fail. Secondly, let us realize that everyone has a free-will and is accountable for their own life. When we sincerely repent for our mistakes, God will forgive us and heal us by removing condemnation and guilt. He truly loves you and your child. He has heard your cries and seen your tears and is the only one who can transform a mind and change a heart. Wednesday, November 15, 2017 KENTUCKY- small plane crash leaves 4 dead. Four killed in plane crash in wooded area near Glasgow, Kentucky. Investigation halted for night due to rain and lack of light. FAA will arrive on scene tomorrow morning: The plane was headed to Lake Cumberland Regional Airport in Somerset, which is just under 80 miles east of Glasgow. A Kentucky state trooper confirmed four people died after the plane hit tree tops before crash-landing in a nearby wooded area. Part of the plane was lodged between large branches in a tree, and debris was scattered at least 200 feet, the state trooper said. The names of the victims weren’t immediately released. The FAA, according to Fox 17, is investigating the incident, and will be on site of the crash Monday morning. The National Transportation Safety Board also will investigate the crash. The Associated Press contributed to this report. MEXICO CITY – Two police officers

have been charged with fatally shooting a U.S. citizen and a U.S. legal resident at a highway checkpoint near Saltillo in the northern border state of Coahuila, prosecutors said Monday. Police apparently tried to cover up the killings with a now-discredited story that the Americans fired at officers first. The two officers of the elite, SWAT-style GROM police squad were manning a highway checkpoint near Saltillo on Oct. 28, when the two men later identified as the Americans allegedly failed to stop at the checkpoint. An official in the state prosecutors’ office said

contradictions in that version led investigators to test the Americans’ hands for gunpowder residue and none was found. The official said the two men were simply driving through Coahuila on a highway that heads south. Rules of the prosecutors’ office do not allow the official to be quoted by name. The two police officers are in jail awaiting arraignment on first-degree homicide charges. The official identified the U.S. resident as Edgar Valdes Rodriguez of Kansas City, Missouri. The U.S. State Department identified the dead U.S. citizen as Demetrius Atkins, giving no hometown. A man who was arrested Monday in Washington, D.C. allegedly traveled to the nation’s capital to kill “all white police” at the White House. WASHINGTON-Michael Arega, of Dallas, Texas, was arrested Monday afternoon after the Secret Service Protective Intelligence Division received an alert just before 3 p.m. from the Montgomery County Maryland Police Department to be on the lookout for Arega. He reportedly traveled from Texas to kill “all white police” at the White House, according to a statement from the U.S. Secret Service. Secret Service at the White House searched for Arega until he was arrested without incident around an hour later. He was found on the north side of Pennsylvania Avenue near Lafayette Park. IRAQ-IRAN-A strong 7.3-magnitude earthquake has rattled the northern border region between

Iran and Iraq, killing scores. At least 61 people were killed and 300 injured in western Iran, state media said, with four more reported dead in Iraq. The death toll is likely to rise. The earthquake sparked panic, with residents fleeing their homes for the streets. Mosques in the Iraqi capital Baghdad have been saying prayers through loudspeakers. Many of the victims were in the town of Sarpol-e Zahab, about 15km (10 miles) from the border, Iran’s emergency services chief, Pir Hossein Koolivand, said, according to Iranian state television channel IRINN. Damage was reported in at least eight villages, the head of Iran’s Red Crescent Organization, Morteza Salim, told the channel. “Some other villages have suffered power cuts and their telecommunications system has also been disturbed,” he said. GRANNY’S KITCHEN BACK TO BASICS.... THANKSGIVING This is our Thanksgiving edition because we are on vacation next week! So, we have all the good stuff in this edition in plenty of time for you to prepare a no muss no fuss meal for your family and friends! Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

Mmmmm…ROAST TURKEY

1 (14 to 16 pound) frozen young turkey For the brine: 1 cup kosher salt 1/2 cup light brown sugar 1-gallon vegetable stock 1 tablespoon black peppercorns 1 1/2 teaspoons allspice berries 1 1/2 teaspoons chopped candied ginger 1 gallon heavily iced water For the aromatics: 1 red apple, sliced, 1/2 onion, sliced, 1 cinnamon stick, 1 cup water, 4 sprigs rosemary, 6 leaves sage, Coconut oil 2 to 3 days before roasting: Begin thawing the turkey in the refrigerator or in a cooler kept at 38 degrees F. Combine the vegetable stock, salt, brown sugar, peppercorns, allspice berries, and candied ginger in a large stockpot over medium-high heat. Stir occasionally to dissolve solids and bring to a boil. Then remove the brine from the heat, cool to room temperature, and refrigerate. Early on the day or the night before you’d like to eat: Combine the brine, water and ice in the 5gallon bucket. Place the thawed turkey (with innards removed) breast side down in brine. If necessary, weigh down the bird to ensure it is fully immersed, cover, and refrigerate or set in cool area for 8 to 16 hours, turning the bird once half way through brining. Preheat the oven to 500 degrees F. Remove the bird from brine and rinse inside and out with cold water. Discard the brine. Place the bird on roasting rack inside a half sheet pan and pat dry with paper towels. Combine the apple, onion, cinnamon stick, and 1 cup of water in a microwave safe dish and microwave on high for 5 minutes. Add steeped aromatics to the turkey’s cavity along with the rosemary and sage. Tuck the wings underneath the bird and coat the skin liberally with canola oil. Roast the turkey on lowest level of the oven at 500 degrees F for 30 minutes. Insert a probe thermometer into thickest part of the breast and reduce the oven temperature to 350 degrees F. Set the thermometer alarm (if available) to 161 degrees F. A 14 to 16-pound bird should require a total of 2 to 2 1/2 hours of roasting. Let the turkey rest, loosely covered with foil or a large mixing bowl for 15 minutes before carving.

HOMEMADE ORANGE CRANBERRY SAUCE (MAKE AHEAD)

1/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice Zest of 1 orange 1/2 cup sugar, or more, to taste 1 (12-ounce) bag fresh cranberries Tip* My family likes no pulp cranberry sauce, so I drain the juice from the cranberry mixture after boiling, add gelatin according to the package directions and cool in a mold of my choice to lay out and slice for dinner. In a medium saucepan, combine orange juice, orange zest, sugar and 3/4 cup water over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved. Stir in cranberries and bring to a rolling boil; reduce heat and let simmer until sauce has thickened, about 15 minutes. Let cool completely before serving. This is my family’s favorite!

BRUSSEL SPROUTS WITH BACON (MAKE AHEAD)

3 pounds medium Brussels sprouts 2 tablespoons vegetable oil 8 thick slices bacon (about 8 ounces), cut crosswise into 1/2-inch strips 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, plus more as needed Freshly ground black pepper Bring a large pot of water to a boil and salt it generously. Trim the bottom end of the Brussels sprouts, leaving the core intact, and pull off the outer dark leaves. Halve through the core. Add the

Brussels sprouts and cook, uncovered, until tender, about 6 minutes. Drain and rinse under cold running water. (This can be done a day ahead.) Meanwhile, put the oil and bacon in a very large skillet or stewpot, and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the bacon is crispy. Remove the bacon with a slotted spoon and set aside. Increase the heat to medium-high, add the Brussels sprouts and cook, stirring occasionally, until they brown, and the edges get crisp, about 10 minutes. Stir in the vinegar, salt, pepper, and bacon. Serve warm.

SWEET POTATO CASSEROLE (MAKE AHEAD)

3 pounds sweet potatoes (about 8), peeled and cut into 1-inch chunks Coarse salt and ground pepper 1/2 cup whole milk 4 tablespoons butter 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg 2 cups mini marshmallows or chopped regular marshmallows Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Place sweet potatoes in a large saucepan, and cover with cold water by 1 inch; salt generously. Bring to a boil; reduce to a simmer, and cook until easily pierced with the tip of a paring knife, 15 to 20 minutes. Drain, and return to pan. Heat over medium, stirring, until liquid has evaporated, and a thin film covers bottom of pan, about 2 minutes. Remove pan from heat; add milk, butter, and nutmeg. Mash until smooth; season with salt and pepper. Transfer sweet-potato mixture to a 2-quart baking dish. (To make ahead, refrigerate, up to 1 day.) Top casserole with marshmallows; bake until center is warmed through and marshmallows are lightly browned, 15 to 20 minutes.

CLASSIC GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE (MAKE AHEAD)

2 cans (14.5 oz each) French-style green beans, drained 1 can (10 3/4 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup 1⁄4 cup milk 1 can (2.8 oz) French-fried onions Heat oven to 350°F. In 1 1/2-quart casserole or glass baking dish, mix green beans, soup and milk. Bake 20 to 25 minutes, topping with onions during last 5 minutes of baking, until bubbly.

3/4 cup granulated sugar 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves 2 large eggs 1 can (15 oz.) Pure Pumpkin 1 can (12 fl. oz.) Evaporated Milk 1 unbaked 9-inch (4-cup volume) deep-dish pie shell Whipped cream (optional) MIX sugar, cinnamon, salt, ginger and cloves in small bowl. Beat eggs in large bowl. Edwards County Commissioner’s Corner Here it is the middle of November and Thanksgiving is just around the corner. While on occasion there has been a touch of cold weather in the air, for the most part it is still fairly warm and I for one, have no problem with that... Yet, I know that winter will come and many of natures indicators say it will be a cold one. Guess we will find out before too long what the weather will bring. In all the years that I have been here, I do not remember a white Christmas. I remember one year when it snowed the last of December and then a large snow in January.. I was just wondering if anyone can recall when or if it ever snowed here on Christmas. A little while after the flood that devastated CR’s 350 and 353, we met with the Texas Division of Emergency Management personnel and took them on a tour of these roads. For a while it appeared that once again the outcome of that tour would come to naught. However, several weeks ago we were notified that we had been awarded funds to rebuild CR 350 (Cedar Creek road). All that needed to be done was to

wait for the contract.. Now the contracts have been signed and we have a proposed start date of December 4th... I say proposed/planned because we have all lived here long enough to know how things can change.. However, unless there is some unforeseen problem, the crews will begin on or about that date. The work will start at the intersection of CR 310 and Cr 350 or for those who have been around for a while it will start at the “Pink House” and work south towards HW 55. When the crews finish, CR 350 will have been completely rebuilt and should last at least until the next severe flooding event... It has been a long time in coming but finally it will happen.... On this week’s Commissioners Court Agenda, there will be a Resolution to apply for funds to fix the crossing on Miller Creek going into Camp Wood Hills. I see no reason why this will not pass so am going to say that by the time you read this the County will be moving forward with this application. Hopefully we will be able to secure funding to put in place a perma-

nent fix to this continual problem. I am also hoping that while the crew is in the area we will be able to do some much needed maintenance on many of the other roads in this Precinct. One of the Obstacles we are now facing when rebuilding/repairing our low water crossings and access across the gravel bars is that we now have to acquire permits. I suspect that this has been a requirement for some time and that it has just now caught up with us. Yet I was and still am amazed that a common material found throughout the area is considered to be a contaminant. Yep, Caliche is considered a contaminant when applied across a gravel bar. Caliche is one of the best materials around to bind loose gravel and can be used instead of sand in low water crossings to stabilize the gravel... While we now have what I would call a blank permit to work on the crossings, it has severe limitations and we can not haul in material but are limited to the use of material within a 200 foot radius of the crossing unless we apply for a special permit. While our Road

Superintendent feels this can be accomplished, I have some doubt. So it will remain to be seen. Well on another note, don’t forget there will be a Barksdale Community Thanksgiving Covered Dish Social at Angel Wings Cafe on Thursday November 23rd (Thanksgiving Day). This will be the 7th year that Judi Koehne and I along with several others have sponsored this event. We furnish the Turkey, Ham , Beans, drinks etc and ask those who come to bring a side dish if possible. If you cannot bring something just bring yourself and come down and see what small town community spirit is all about.... Lunch will be served about 1 PM..... As usual, I will end with a quote and this quote, relating to Thanksgiving, comes from Guy Fieri who said, “We’re getting ready to sit down at the table and have Thanksgiving, and there’s people that are not with their families. There are people that are in dangerous areas, putting their lives on the line to keep our country free, and I think that’s some
