informed by reason.
The Mission of Holy Cross High School is to assist in the total Christian education of young men and women. To accomplish this, Holy Cross High School, in cooperation with parents, provides a framework, which fosters integration of the spiritual, intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth of each individual. Holy Cross High School is an integral part of the mission of the Catholic Church. Our special role at Holy Cross High School is founded on the love that Jesus Christ has for us. We believe this love will lead us to an awareness of the uniqueness of each person in the Holy Cross community. The school’s purpose is to foster the development of conscience and a sense of responsibility in each member of the school community. We trust that the awareness of Christ’s love for us will lead us to a Christian commitment which manifests love and concern for all.

Academics It is evident as one walks through the halls of Holy Cross that there is a love of learning by both teachers and students. Whether students are engaged in a discussion, conducting a hands-on experiment, or absorbed in the technology, each classroom is filled with excitement. Class size is small, giving teachers the opportunity to offer individualized attention to each student. Holy Cross creates an environment for profound interaction between faculty and students by utilizing a unique block scheduling format in which each class meets for 80 minutes. Teachers are able to integrate group discussion, activity-based learning, and one-on-one time within individual units — fostering a truly interactive experience. Faculty at Holy Cross High School seek to create a sense of community around the shared purpose of education. They strive both to inspire and nurture our students, while at the same time setting expectations high, so that students develop the skills they need to continue learning independently when they graduate.
“I feel that the larger environment at Holy Cross is in large part responsible for my successes in motivating students. Ultimately, it’s been my experience that Holy Cross is a place where teachers are given the freedom to develop a humanized approach to teaching, one in which both the teacher and the student are able to relate respectfully and honestly.” – Sean Kienle, english teacher
Our faculty is truly dedicated — their foremost goal continues to be the successful futures of the students they teach. Professional growth through workshops and seminars strengthens the teachers’ mastery of subject content and keeps them current with ideas and issues relative to their field. Teachers also moderate activities, participate in service projects and retreats and coach athletic teams, allowing them to interact with the students outside of the classroom. Holy Cross provides students with the skills to become lifelong learners, thus preparing them for college and a successful professional life. HC offers a rigorous core curriculum along with a wide array of electives in art, business, computer science and music.

Faith & Service
Holy Cross Student Theatre puts on two major performances each year — a Fall Drama and Spring Musical. From start to finish the entire cast and crew Holy Cross seeks to promote the spiritual growth of its students through our comprehensive Campus Ministry Program, a four-year Retreat program, Masses, daily prayer and Community Service programs. Masses are celebrated throughout the school year — on Holy Days, feast days, Founders’ Week, and special occasions such as Junior Ring Night, Thanksgiving Eve and Graduation Liturgy. Prayer services are offered each morning in the school Chapel. The Campus Ministry Program promotes active participation in liturgies and services that appeal to students. Peer Ministry offers our students the opportunity to develop their leadership skills in a faith-centered environment. Holy Cross students are extremely active in serving the community. Students spend countless hours helping others in our local, national and global community through the Home-to-Home Foundation, Heart-to-Heart, Halloween Happening, local shelters and soup kitchens, International Day of Peace, Stockings for Seniors, tutoring and mentoring area elementary school children, among others!
