PONTOON THE CREEK

Saturday, 9 a.m., 11 a.m., and 1 p.m. at Jones Park, 20634 Kenswick Dr., Humble. Ages 13+.

Take a tour along Spring Creek for a closer look at the local flora and fauna. Experience the park from a new perspective while learning about the area’s cultural history. Tours are dependent on weather and water conditions.

Learn how to use a star chart and your smartphone for stargazing. Meet at the Pundt Park parking lot. Bring binoculars.

Friday, 6 p.m. – Sunday, 10 a.m. at Pundt Park, 4129 Spring Creek Dr., Spring. All ages.

Learn camping basics during this weekend trip with Trails As Parks. Limited camping gear will be available on a first-come, firstserved basis.

Bring your flashlight and help a Trails As Parks guide “sniff” out these often misunderstood arachnids.

Spend the evening learning about nocturnal wildlife during a hike along the Spring Creek Greenway Trail. Wear outdoor-appropriate clothing and closedtoe shoes.

ART IN THE PARK: WREATH MAKING

Monday, noon at Dennis Johnston Park 709 Riley Fuzzel Rd., Spring. Ages 10+.

Learn to make a wreath from botanical material found along the Spring Creek Greenway. Bring pruners and garden gloves.

EYE SPY: EVENING SCAVENGER HUNT

Thursday, 5 p.m. at Pundt Park, 4129 Spring Creek Dr., Spring. All ages.

Hit the trails for an evening nature scavenger hunt for the entire family! Wear outdoor-appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes.

CANOEING: SPRING CREEK PADDLE

Saturday, 9 a.m. Meet at Dennis Johnston Park 709 Riley Fuzzel Rd., Spring. Ages 16+. Each canoe must have at least one adult 18 years or older.

Paddle along Spring Creek for a closer look at local flora and fauna. Bring a refillable water bottle and snack. Please wear canoeappropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes.

Explore glow-in-the-dark nature using a UV light during an evening walk in the park. Borrow a UV light or bring your own. Wear closed-toe shoes.

Signs of animals exist all around us, even if we don’t see the animal. Discover the types of animals in your area based on the evidence they leave behind.

KNOT ON MY WATCH: THE ART OF KNOT TYING

Saturday, 9 a.m. at Burroughs Park, 9738 Hufsmith Rd., Tomball. Ages 10+.

Want to learn how to tie camping and fishing knots? Learn the basics of knot tying and more! Class is held outdoors, so please dress for the weather.

SENIOR ARCHERY

Tuesdays, Oct. 1 – Nov. 26, 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. at Mangum-Howell Community Center, 2500 Frick Rd., Houston. Ages 7+.

Learn to shoot a bow and arrow or simply practice your aim! This program is designed for beginner archers. All equipment is provided. Dress for the outdoors and wear closed-toe shoes.

FIRST FRIDAY CART TOURS

Fridays, Oct. 4, Nov. 1, and Dec. 6, 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. & 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. at Dennis Johnston Park, 709 Riley Fuzzel Rd., Spring. Ages 10+.

Did you know Precinct 4 has a 17-mile paved trail that runs from U.S. 59 to I-45? Enjoy a brief guided tour of a small portion of the Spring Creek Greenway Trail.

BOATS & BOBBERS

Third Wednesdays, 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. at Kickerillo-Mischer Preserve, 20215 Chasewood Park Dr., Houston. One adult per child (10 and under) required to canoe.

Enjoy an afternoon of leisurely paddling and fishing on Marshall Lake. All equipment is provided, including canoes, paddles, fishing poles, bait, and personal flotation devices.
