SS23 INTRODUCTION Force of Nature
Introducing Spring/Summer 2023 from NÜ entitled Force Of Nature.
This season invites us to truly open our eyes to the world around us. Inspired by nature and the environments that speak to us, the collection takes us on an evocative journey to the heart of Mother Earth. From rich, earthen-inspired hues taken from the sky, sea and soil to the tactile textures that mimic the horizons ahead, this season is a story of nature and how it forces us to reflect on our own relationship with it.
This is SS23. Feminine. Raw. Sophisticated.

− 1ST RELEASE −
From fluffy mohair and handmade merino wool to soft, washed denim, this season captures the textures found in the natural world, be it a stony, pebbled beach or the turbulent grey of the sky before a storm. Always in keeping with our signature NÜ aesthetic, this collection evokes all the colours, shapes and moods of the ocean and the coastline. Think jagged rocks set against a solid blue sky as waves rumble below. This season’s palette sways from classic créme and grey to cheerful sky blue, dusty mint and petrol green. Mix structured silhouettes with relaxed, super-soft knits for a grunge-inspired look or elevate your everyday staples with unique prints inspired by nature.

Prints Inspired By Nature
This season, we’ve drawn inspiration from the natural world around us. Entitled Force Of Nature, the collection focuses heavily on prints and motifs inspired by nature, from vast blue skies and rippling waves to the intricate form of a flower in bloom.
We began this season’s creative exploration by looking at imagery that represented the most beautiful examples of nature in various environments. Each print tells the story of a certain landscape, through abstract imagery that epitomises the image of the scene. A garden in full bloom has been reinterpreted with an artist’s sketch style and focuses in on the opening petals of a flower. Overlaid with a soft grey and blue palette, the result is a serene image that appears throughout this season. Dramatic, sculptural frozen
oceans and billowing clouds across the sky inspire prints that capture the dynamism of the natural world, again in softly muted hues that stay true to the NÜ aesthetic. The blush pink petals of a magnolia flower are reinterpreted with a graphic eye to create a print that is akin to animal print while a sandy desert is reimagined as a rich textural canvas where light and dark cast a Rorschach-effect print. These unique motifs capture not only the world around us, but the feelings they evoke within us.

Depicting Nature WITH SABINE ZIMMERMANN
This season, we are delighted to collaborate with artist, art therapist, and all round creative visionary, Sabine Zimmermann. Born in Southern Germany, Sabine began her career as an art therapist in a psychiatric clinic, where she worked with patients to express their emotions and release their creativity through the medium of art. Now based in France, Sabine’s work has been exhibited widely across Europe. She also works as an art teacher at the German International School in Paris.
Sabine’s painting style is a world of multi-layered brush strokes, where gentle sweeps dance amongst soft curves and flowing rhythms, expressing her love of colour with strong contrasts and shades of spatial depth. An experimentalist at heart, Sabine always works in her garden (no matter the season) where she finds
serenity and harmony in nature. Even in the depths of winter, she takes her canvas outside, where the paint freezes and ice flowers appear. The result is truly emotive paintings flooded with water and exposed to the elements, revealing a unique dialogue with nature. Water is poured, paint is splashed and sprayed wildly to mimic the unpredictable power of nature. Texture is key to Sabine’s work and she uses a combination of acrylic paint, self-cut stencils and natural materials (including sand, stones, salt and palm leaves).
Amongst the beautiful chaos of her work, streaks of colour and delicate glazes reveal themselves as floods of colour echo the movement of the natural world. Layered with experimental processes, Sabine captures the chance moments, where something slips away on
the canvas. These magical pictorial spaces capture a moment in time.
While nature is Sabine’s key source of inspiration, music also plays an integral part in her work. From the never-ending optimism of a wide skyscape, to flashes of light breaking through clouds, her love of the natural world is evident in every brushstroke. She regularly creates large nature mandalas in environments across the globe, from her garden to fields, forests and beaches.
Sabine lives with her husband and son in Garches, a Parisian suburb, in a belle époque style house decorated with faience. A large garden rich with trees, flora and fauna houses an idyllic treehouse where creativity blooms and thrives.

Sabine’s latest project ‘One Day, One Stone’ took a year to create. “Every day, in a precious little moment of attention, I collected one stone and put the 365 stones together to form one big mandala. This daily ritual taught me mindfulness and gratitude” says Sabine.
THE FORCE OF NATURE COLLECTION
The collection centres on a cotton jacket detailed with an octopus motif. Inspired by one of Sabine’s best-loved works ‘Portrait With Octopus” from the Octopus Series, the jacket illustrates a harmonious meeting of creative minds. In Sabine’s world, the octopus represents all manner of powerful qualities, including mystery, fluidity, intelligence, intuition and adaptability. The collection also includes a selection of T-shirts detailed with motifs inspired by the collaboration.

Sow, Grow, Harvest
WITH TOMORROWS VEGETABLES
This season, we’ve turned our focus to the natural world around us. From the soil to the sea, we ‘re celebrating the beauty of Mother Earth and putting a spotlight on the businesses doing more to further the future of sustainability.
Morgendagens Grøntsager (Tomorrow’s Vegetables) is an organically certified farm producing vegetables, herbs, edible flowers and honey. The farm is run by Lars Benko who was born and raised on
the Tomorrows Vegetables farm, Drastrup Østergård and has grown up surrounded by a culture of homegrown produce. From a young age, Benko harvested fresh berries and vegetables from his home, with potato digging and collecting fresh eggs an integral part of daily life on the farm. A born-and-bred champion of sustainability, Benko realised that not everyone has the time and opportunity to ‘grow their own’, which led to the creation of Morgendagens Grøntsager. The farm provides the
highest quality, fresh and nutritious vegetables to local restaurants and farm visitors.
Benko is passionate about transparency in agriculture and food production and sees it as his mission to provide more insight into vegetable production and cultivation. Morgendagens Grøntsager strive to grow crops of the highest quality, both in terms of taste, texture and appearance. The secret to this? Healthy and nutritious soil. No
SUMMER SALAD
1 hispi cabbage
1 bunch spring onions
1 bunch radishes
1 bunch dill
Olive oil
100 ml sour cream
Salt and pepper
Lemon juice if desired -
Halve the cabbage and cut as finely as possible. Finely slice the radishes. Then cut the spring onions into bite-size pieces.
Finely chop the dill and turn it in the sour cream. Season the mixture with olive oil, lemon juice, salt and pepper.
Turn the salad and dressing together just before serving.
If necessary, add some freshly boiled potatoes or fresh asparagus to the salad.
pesticides or fertilizers are used in vegetable production with only organic fertilizer and compost used. The soil is very lightly tilled so as not to disturb the naturally formed ecosystems. Flowers are pollinated by the farm’s very own bees, and produce delicious honey in the process!
Once the vegetables are harvested, they are processed with great care and delicacy to ensure customers receive the freshest ingredients possible. Surrounded by vegetable fields, greenhouses and fruit trees is
the Drastrup Østergård restaurant situated in an old barn. Here, the farm’s ingredients come to life on the plate, as created by chef Jacob Gunge, formerly of Michelin star restaurant Domestic in Aarhus.
Self-sufficiency and sustainability are more important than ever, with many of us finding ourselves drawn to the natural spaces around us and a desire to rekindle a human connection with Mother Earth. In celebration of the launch of our Force
Of Nature collection, we’re delighted to showcase an exclusive recipe from the Morgendagens Grøntsager farm kitchen.
