We played music, sang, danced, played on the tennis courts, and talkedabout almost every subject there is. We all missed dinnerthat night andended up staying on campusuntil 9 p.m., but we didn’t care. We enjoyed sitting and appreciating our campus, even in the dark. This moment caused agreat amount of self-reflection;it made me realize how lucky I was to attend a school I enjoyed going to.”

The day I gave my Homecoming Speech to the Class of 2023.
It was not the public speaking itself, but the opportunity I had to share my gratitude for my classmates publicly. I get to go to school every day with people I admire, who uplift me, and who help me become my best self. I don’t think many of us take the time during our busy days to reflect on the power of our peers and thank them for the friendship they provide. During that speech Iwasable to connect with my classmates in a sincere way and thank them for the impact they have had on my life.”

The reason each of our students chose Harvey most likely has to do with the community here, and their desire to engage in and contribute to a community. I would encourage them to take that same mindset into the world beyond Harvey, and to remember that no matter the size of the next community that they join, they can and should continue to seek out ways to connect.”
