Losing a baby shouldn’t be a taboo subject - Elizabeth’s story CONTINUED FROM COVER... Elizabeth was cared for by the incredible bereavement team at Heartlands Hospital in the Eden Bereavement Suite. In this episode, Elizabeth talks about how vital the Eden Suite was for her and her family in such a devastating time. Following her time there, Elizabeth wants to give something back and fundraise for other bereaved families. This year she will be completing six challenges in her daughter’s memory to raise vital funds for the Eden Suite. The unit provides a peaceful and private environment for parents in their time of need.

CuddleCots keep the baby cool, which extends the period of time that parents have to spend with their baby. The Charity will continue to provide ‘added extras’ for the unit, from cutting-edge pieces of technology, to patient comforts and support, donations from supporters will allow the Charity to go ‘over and above’ for parents on the Eden Suite. The Eden Suite offers the best care possible for women and their families. The experienced, highly-trained staff are always on hand to support the women and their partners through their time on the suite, and continue to provide care after they leave the hospital. The Eden Suite has been designed to provide as much privacy as possible for women and their partners, with individual ensuite rooms and a quiet garden for parents to be outside and reflect. UHB Charity works to provide ‘added extras’ for the Eden Suite, complementing the

Home From Hospital Care staff and volunteers can support you as you make the transition from hospital to home, our support is free for once a week up to six weeks. Some of the things we can do for you are:

• Arrange a handyman to do a small job

• Provide food parcels on discharge from hospital

• Check you are receiving the correct amount of benefits, provide advice and support to guide you through the benefits process

• Visit you once a week for six weeks for a friendly chat • Shop for you or accompany you to the shops or supermarket
