Hi, I’m Temenu Franca, a reporter and news presenter for KGH Radio.
I have always had a keen interest in becoming a journalist and the opportunity came up in college to apply to KGHR as a volunteer. I was so excited about it as I know for a fact that this would be a great start for my career and also an opportunity for me to give back to my local community.
So far, joining KGHR has been amazing but at first, it was nerve-racking, but the amazing volunteers at KGHR are so welcoming that they made it very easy for me to adjust to my new role.
Though I had previously volunteered for my local art and heritage gallery, I knew volunteering as a reporter for a hospital radio station would be a whole different experience.
I am loving my role as I get to conduct interviews, write articles, edit written articles and I am looking forward to doing more. Hopefully I will be starting my show soon which would be centered around giving information on local and national news with a touch of human interest stories, which will be supported with LIVE interviews.
I believe my show will stand out and connect to people. The best thing I like about KGHR is the opportunity to meet and work with amazing people every time. Franca x

Joining KGHR has been something I’ve been thinking about for a while and always put it off, never quite thinking I would be good enough. Then the pandemic came along and changed the way I saw the world! I wanted to give something back to KGH, which has been there for me and my family so many times in recent years, and COVID made me want to make people who’ve given so much the chance to have a little smile.
So, having read an article about KGHR in the KGH Together magazine I googled it, and sent an email and I finally joined KGHR in May of 2020! So far, it’s been an exciting lead-up and I’d be lying if I didn’t say I was nervous too. The best thing I like about KGHR is obviously going to be the idea that in my own small way I’m helping people, be it the patients or staff, and that I’m giving something back. Rather selfishly it’s also something different and new for me, and a world away from my current job, so it’ll be a relaxing break! I am due to start my show soon and I’m sure the first few shows will be ‘interesting’ to say the least! I’m really hoping that my show offers something for everyone, to the person who’s in KGH and missing home, to the person who is almost ready to head home, to the staff that needs to know that we all care about them and are thankful for what they’re doing. The aim is for my show to be an enormous hug or a cuppa and a chat with anyone who needs it. Plus they’ll be some pretty good music along the way too that will make people smile, laugh, sing along and also pause and reflect. So stay tuned!

Hi, I’m Wendy Scott. I host the Friday evening show from 18- 20:00 hours.
How did you join KGHR?
I got to know about KGH Hospital Radio when I was looking at the charity board in Kettering’s Tesco and I spotted a section of the ad that caught my eye asking for volunteers for KGH’s Hospital Radio.
I’d recently started working from home and realised that I needed to do something new. I was a regular podcaster and knew that joining hospital radio would be a new challenge and something fun to do.
What is your favorite music Artist?
I don’t have a favorite artist; I generally have an eclectic taste which spans across quite a number of musical genres. Though, I am a particular fan of original film scores, The music of the late James Horner, John Williams and Michael Giacchino are my particular favorites. As you may guess, I love film and I am a regular cinema attendee.
