MORE ABOUT ME AND MY MEDICAL CONDITIONS: Around the time that happened, I started suffering from mystery symptoms after a really really bad infection. I ended up being pretty much bed bound for a few YEARS. Yes, YEARS. I’ve been housebound ever since that time and only really leave the house for medical appointments. My mystery illness ended up being a connective tissue disorder and a seizure disorder. Meaning that I can dislocate my joints very easily and the seizures make it happen. Being stuck in bed all of the time, whether sleepy or not, the walls get dull, the specs on the wall really start to stand out, you know what time it is because of the way the shadows hit a certain part of the room and you slowly start to lose your mind. There is also only so much TV and wall watching that one can do. With your body not being able to do the things that you tell it too can be very difficult to come to terms with. For instance, I get too tired to chew my food and my jaw now threatens to dislocate if I attempt to eat a vegan burger or anything with real bite in it. Sometimes I’m too weak to lift drinks and have to drink through my reusable straws (#zerowaste).

BEING CHRONICALLY ILL AND BEING CREATIVE: Even though I experienced that type of exhaustion, I would also have GREAT days where I could actually sit upright supported by pillows. You’re thinking, how hard is that? Well, like a baby’s head, when I’m tired, my head starts to just list to one side. So, during the times I could be upright, I wanted to learn a new creative skill . I had never studied art in school apart from the first few years when it was compulsory. I took my very first online art class , I learned how to draw, how to paint, how to letter, then I got published a few months after that… and I have never looked back. From then on I vowed to learn a new creative skill every year and it’s been a real journey to get to this point. I’m very well managed by my GP, I’ve got a good balance with my medication, so give me a cat and some easily accessible craft supplies and I am HAPPY.
STAYING CREATIVE WHEN YOU’RE CHRONICALLY ILL My continued creativity is down to easy access to my supplies and the fact that I just feel serene when I’m being arty and also a little bit farty. I’m probably best known for planners, art journals, and a lot of home decor crafts. I LOVE art journaling and using lots of pastel shades, colourful supplies and scrapbooking ephemera.

The Pretty But Unused Craft Room Set Up! Before I got this DreamBox, I was using a very large Ikea Kallax unit with boxes. What you need to know though is that I get very tired, very quickly. So I can grab my supplies, do a bit of crafting and then tap out. Putting the supplies away is where it gets tricky for me. I normally end up jamming them in a box and wondering why I can never find anything…

DreamBox Review Not only is the unit itself very sleek and functional; when the supplies are all in the unit it’s an absolute dream to look at! There’s nothing better than being able to display all of your favourite craft supplies because that way, you enjoy looking at them and you’re less likely to forget that you own something or where it’s located!
DREAMBOX REVIEW | THE DELIVERY PROCESS: Delivery of the DreamBox took between 8 and 10 business days and everything arrived in one massive crate. I was thrilled when it arrived but it will be too big to go through your front door, you will need somewhere safe for it to live before you can open it and take everything out. My husband was in charge of opening the crate and taking the contents out and then upstairs to my craft room. He was immediately thrilled because inside of the crate, was a rubber mallet. So for him, it’s all about the free mallet.

It’s GREAT! The side tables are also easy to insert into the shelving space and are incredibly sturdy. I personally love the fact that everything locks and lines up so perfectly!

DreamBox Review Mr Heart Handmade was very impressed with how the unit was all organized within the crate. Everything was in sections and any hardware was in a bag that was labelled appropriately, it was all very easy to find and gather everything before building. The building process itself was straight forward. He read the instructions and said that it wasn’t difficult to build compared to other flat pack furniture that he has built in the past. More points were scored because the quality is really, really good. The wood is strong and every hole lined up with what it was supposed to. The only problem was all of the individual little shelves, but with a glass of wine, it didn’t take too long apparently!

DREAMBOX REVIEW | THE VERDICT: I would give the entire process a 4.8 out of 5 stars but it has received over 1000 5 star reviews. They’ve lost part of a star because I had to go and get an adapter, because every other experience I’ve had with companies sending me European plugs, always included an adapter. Everything else though has been outstanding. I couldn’t be more thrilled! My crafting has definitely increased and my time in the craft room, in general, has increased! It has gone back to being my happy place, instead of a nightmare mess space!
