Vo l u n teer Spotlight For the past several months, Pablo Diego has been volunteering with HOLA, providing invaluable assistance with graphic design projects. Pablo finds design intriguing, with its capacity to simplify large ideas and communicate them in a simple and effective format. With his work at HOLA, he has been able to produce a wide variety of projects, but his favorite was to showcase HOLA programs by placing photos of students within HOLA’s new logo, creating a customized logo for each department. As he culled through hundreds of photos, Pablo was able to survey the work HOLA has done over the years and give him insight into all of HOLA’s programs. Pablo’s not a stranger to HOLA, he attended the SAT prep class during his junior year of high school. A native Angeleno, Pablo first ventured outside of Los Angeles when he moved out of state to study architecture at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He took advantage of his new location, traveling to places in the area like New York and Maryland, and as far away as Mexico and Italy. After graduating, Pablo took the opportunity to travel to Guatemala before returning home to LA. While staying in a rural village during his trip, he witnessed unsuitable housing conditions and the limited education opportunities for the children. That experience moved him to get involved with a non-profit after returning home. When he started to look around, he immediately thought of HOLA and the invaluable support he received from HOLA when he was in high school. Although he has been helping HOLA with graphic design, Pablo has a future in architecture ahead of him. He recently completed seven graduate school applications, with the hopes of beginning his work towards a Masters of Architecture degree this fall.
