She currently resides in Florida. Her trajectory from her roots in the Northeast to her present home in the sun-drenched environment of Florida underscores a life full of pivotal experiences and professional growth. Heather's relocation to Stuart, Florida, in 1996 marked the beginning of a life filled with active pursuits. Raised alongside her sisters, she developed a keen interest in sports early on, participating in ice hockey and baseball during her youth. Her high school years at Martin County High School were characterized by her participation in a diverse array of sports, such as softball, powderpuff flag football, and rowing, which highlighted her athletic prowess. Additionally, she took on significant responsibilities as class vice president for two years, where she honed her leadership skills. Post-high school, in 2005, Heather embarked on her higher education journey at Mercer University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Leadership and Service. Her college years were vibrant, with leadership roles in Baptist Collegiate Ministries and active involvement in intramural sports and community service initiatives. Her academic journey peaked with a co-authorship in a research article for the Journal of Morphology, an accomplishment she still holds in high regard. Her college experience was marred, however, by the tragic loss of her older sister in a car accident, an event that profoundly affected her.
