Mrs. Mancera House Studio Project #1 (2014)
6
Mrs. Mancera House was designed for a piano teacher who lived alone, had limited mobility, but would like to host students that go to a nearby university, and of course, wanted to keep playing the piano and giving lessons. The brisoleil and other facade details follow the music and rhythm motif. Residential / 250 sqm / Monterrey, México.

The ground floor contains the living quarters for Mrs. Mancera (a.), the piano room (b.) and the kitchen (c.), along with other service spaces and an outside terrace (d.). The upper floor has space for 5 students (e.), two of them with their own independent rooms, and a big collaborative space for the students to be able to study and spend time (f.), and a terrace for the students that has a view towards the mountains (g.).
Félix4 Studio Project #4 (2017) collab. with Marcelo Llaguno Félix4 is a mixed use development concept in an important urban artery in Monterrey, in the north of México. The design follows parametric logic that comes from the urban trace of the city, also taking into account its direct surroundings like the metro station and the Colón Avenue. Mixed Use/ 10,000 sqm / Monterrey, México. i.

7 iv.

b.
To develop the parametric design concept, first the urban trace from the nearest streets and avenues was projected into the projects lot, and offset througout its surface. (i) These projections where then cropped into the project’s dimensiones, and the offsets were modified into a 3D plane, starting from the inner-most area getting higher as the offsets went outward. (ii) The process was repeated with all the main arteries, which produced several planes (iii) which were then adjusted taking into account the architectural program which comprised of residential, cultural, office space and commercial space (iv) After the program was divided, vertical connections were added, which also served as both structural support and service spaces. (v) The resulting volumes come directly from the urban fabric, but take into account the direct surroundings, views and uses of each space. (vi)

“Maderería La Victoria” Studio Project # (2018)
“Maderería La Victoria” was a mid-century woodworking and furniture store in the Centro district of Monterrey. After the store closed, the building, with a classic Art Deco facade, fell into disarray. The project to revitalize it reimagines the building as a cultural center, local market and coworking space, complete with exhibition areas and an arthouse cinema. On the same lot facing the back street there is a residential development, so the connection and response to that building was also taken into account. Mixed Use / 5000sqm / Monterrey, México.
b.
a.
The primary structure was preserved and reinforced, and the new structure was added on top, maintining a void between them to signal the separation of the original building and the addition. This void also doubled as an all-purpose outside terrace to enjoy the view and the refreshing wind.

Galeana 201 (2019)
16
The Galeana 201 project is for a client that has an interior design and jewelry business, and wanted a new space with a very flexible architectural program. The space will be used for both professional events showcasing the interior design objetcs and for personal events with friends. It must also have some office and studio space, and the possibility of a guest room, since the lot for the project is really close to the client’s current house and shop and could house visitors from out of town. Since the use of the project could potentially change to completely residential in the future, a flexible construction system was proposed, with a steel framework that could potentially be modified or added to. Río Caura 227 (2021)
17
The Río Caura House was originally built in the 1970s, in a Modern Style which was pasted on and modified through the years. The challenge for the refurbishment of the house was to maintain the original structure and adapt the distribution of the interior to a new architectural program. The house is for an urban couple with four kids, who need ample interior and exterior space for social and play areas. Residential / 320sqm / Monterrey, México A

Outdoor Social Area Mar Egeo 402 (2021)
18
The Outdoors Social Area for the Mar Egeo 402 Residence was built by the previous owners of the house and does not respond to the specific necessities of the current owners. The new project, along with responding to these necessities, incorporates into its design the new gas grill that has been acquired by the family to be used in the outdoors social area, to ensure that the person using it can be part of the social event even while cooking. Sinopsis
Nia, Dominique and Yuri leave their comfortable lives in the United States to participate in a spiritual retreat at an ashram in Mexico in a last ditch attempt to help Dominique heal from a past trauma. Magda, the spiritual leader of the ashram, introduces them to bizarre group meditations that seem to help Dominique, but deeply disturb Nia and Yuri. During a ritual, Dominique has a psychotic break from which she is rescued by Magda, who takes advantage of her vulnerability to indoctrinate her into a strange belief system with a sinister purpose.
Sample Scene from script:
The local christian Pastor, Jin, talks with Nia about the traditions and celebrations of the town near the ashram, Hierba Buena.

Co-Founder of workshop “La inmortalidad del cangrego” (2010) (The immortality of the crab) The name of the project, coined by me and chosen by popular vote of the 15 members, comes from a spanish language expression which means roughly “to fantasize about something” i.e. “thinking about the immortality of the crab”. During my time in the project I co-edited the first two story collections from “La inmortalidad del cangrejo”, “Texturas” (Textures) and “Fractales” (Fractals).

“The best months are the warm and busy-city months, when everyone wishes they could go to the beach but can’t. I have seen only a few more tenants, maybe 6. I have been here since March, could be here until March. It is a warm, humid day; as it usually is. The decorations in the apartment are a unique blend of American gothic and marine biology wet dream. I can’t identify. But I am not supposed to. The idea of the beach house is for it to not only get you near the beach, but to massage your mood and your mind until it breaks you and you forget why you went to the beach in the first place. You enter a supposedly pleasant coma, a cruise-coma, as if you have somehow discovered paradise. The stiff fish and coral never look at me, but I can identify carcasses around them, memories and definitions that someone decided to put on them before, and the fish is the freedom of the torrid-serpent-sea blue and the coral is the one thing beaver’s teeth can’t break, or leave to rot. Between them, by the kitchen, is the perfect place to hang a picture frame with a mirror, and look at yourself every few days, just to be sure you aren’t disappearing into the blank pages.”
(Published in independent literary magazine “Ahí muere”)
