Elegance & efficiency Designed by Omega Architects and built with Van Oossanen’s Fast Displacement Hull Form, Home is Heesen’s first yacht developed with hybrid propulsion. The hybrid propulsion system is able to draw on two sources of power separately or simultaneously: diesel mechanical and diesel electrical. The results speak for themselves. Reduced vibration, less noise and improved efficiency.

High performance
Home’s efficient Fast Displacement Hull Form allowed our engineers to save space by utilising smaller engines. This means lower fuel consumption without compromising performance - with more space on board to enjoy the yacht life to the fullest. High performance with a reduced environmental impact, Home provides the best of both worlds.

Silent cruising
Hybrid Mode
Home’s hybrid engine system embraces the very best of 21st-century technology. Vast improvements in alternative power systems allow us to meet our increasingly important aims of minimising our environmental impact. The hybrid system offers irresistible advantages over a conventional diesel-powered system: cleaner, quieter and more fuel efficient.

Hybrid Mode Hybrid Mode drives the yacht at speeds up to 9 knots. Power is derived purely from the yachts’ e-motors and generators. Hybrid Mode is beautifully silent, with maximum noise levels in the owner’s stateroom reaching just 46 dB(A) – the sound of softly falling rain. Boxed and insulated generators result in vibration-free cruising, whilst fuel consumption is no more than 70 litres per hour.

In a world full of noise, silence is the ultimate luxury Hybrid technology provides fuel efficiency and a number of cost-reducing benefits. Always with a vision to enhance life on board to the maximum level, Heesen’s hybrid solution offers much more.
Silence is the most significant benefit that hybrid technology offers owners, particularly when cruising in the near-silent Hybrid Mode. Noise levels do not exceed 46 dB(A), whilst vibration is drastically reduced to the point of imperceptibility. This combination means peaceful cruising for hours at a time.

Manoeuvrability is an important aspect of any yacht, particularly during harbour or marina operations. High engine torque at low revolutions per minute (RPM) makes manoeuvring at low speeds and in tight spaces more precise. With an electric motor, it is possible to go from full ahead to full astern instantaneously. Hybrid Mode allows significantly easier and more efficient port operations.
Fuel-efficiency is achieved when the diesel engines and electric motors are combined during cruising. This provides significant cost and efficiency savings. The most significant fuel consumption benefits onboard Home are achieved when cruising in the Hybrid Mode, allowing the yacht to run at no more than 70 litres per hour. This means fewer refuelling stops and more time for cruising.

Interior design
Warm & welcoming Home’s interior design comes from the drawing boards of Cristiano Gatto. The brief called for a relaxed, welcoming beach club ambience and a fantastic indoor/outdoor connection. Cristiano and his team realised this with the use of natural materials with minimal artificial treatments. Taking advantage of the full-height windows, Home is flooded with natural light.

Protected & private
One of Home’s most unique features is the central staircase leading from the main deck to the swim platform. This provides an unrivalled entrance when arriving by tender, and seamless access to the ocean. The generous size of the swim platform is achieved by stowing the tender out of sight in a recessed bay on the foredeck. Sheltered between the hull bulwarks, Home’s swim platform is both protected and private.

Its 22,000 square metres of covered area and 2,900 square metres of workshop space offer everything you need to construct a product as complex as a Heesen yacht. Production capacity has gradually increased with the addition of new docks. In 2016, following the success of the 65-metre Galactica Star and 70-metre Galactica Super

Platform concept The semi-custom platform is the perfect choice for clients who want to rely on proven design and technology while still being able to create a unique yacht. This revolutionary concept, which cuts down development time and costs significantly, set new standards when Heesen introduced it in 2000. Heesen originally focused on custom yachts only but then expanded its portfolio with the introduction of its 37-metre semi-custom line. At the start of the new millennium, the shipyard faced a rising demand for yachts that required a shorter construction time. Heesen didn’t want to compromise on quality so it created a platform based on proven design and tested technology. This reduced the overall investment costs, as well as the overall production time.
Heesen’s quick delivery, which is the same as the build time of a standard ‘production’ vessel, has impressed many clients

Semi-custom is the perfect solution for customers who want a proven, cost-effective design
Complete customisation The semi-custom proposition has parallels within the automotive industry, where even the most exclusive brands produce in lines rather than designing fully bespoke cars. The overall design and engineering is shared, but consumers have the opportunity to completely customise their car through a range of options to make it their own. ‘The semi-custom lines at Heesen work in the same way,’ says architect Frank Laupman, ‘but offer even greater potential for customisation. Clients can decide on an existing hull type and superstructure and then personalise their yacht with their own choice of materials, colour schemes and interior outfitting, creating something that is one of a kind.’

Handcrafted by Heesen Building a yacht is probably one of the most complex processes you can undertake. Few products involve more skills and technology. And in this high-tech era of robots and fully automated production, a Heesen yacht is still largely crafted by hand.

Heesen‘s modern Oss shipyard builds from 40 to 83 metres, all on site
The design comes to life The backbone of each Heesen yacht is a hull welded to perfection. It is always a magical moment when the first contours of the hull appear and the yacht’s design comes to life. Heesen uses aluminium – which requires highly skilled and experienced welders – and steel to construct. In 2016, the shipyard used approximately 265 tonnes of aluminium and approximately 475 tonnes of steel to build 4 yachts – 2 steel and 2 aluminium hulls.

A perfect finish Several layers of epoxy primer are applied to the aluminium and steel surfaces of the yacht, giving the hull and superstructure a smooth finish and a perfect basis for the paintwork. It takes a trained eye and skilful hands to apply each layer of coating and paint with exactly the right thickness.

The marriage The definitive shape of the yacht is determined by another key moment in the building process: the marriage, when the hull and superstructure are joined. It is all about perfect timing and precision when the crane operator lowers the superstructure onto the hull.

Interior workshop The shipyard’s main interior workshop is situated in Winterswijk, just over an hour’s drive from Oss, and provides more than 7,000 square metres of working space. Here, a large group of craftsmen work on up to five Heesen projects at the same time. This is where all of the luxury areas – such as the atrium, saloon, dining, owner’s stateroom and guest suites – are created. At the shipyard in Oss, another 30 craftsmen work on the interiors of all the service areas and sky lounges. Rather unusually in this industry, Heesen builds its yacht interiors entirely in-house, which requires every type of machinery and skill on location. ‘This is something that has evolved over the years and we are very proud of it,’ Jan Rademaker, director of Heesen Interiors, explains, ‘because we have been responsible for many award-winning yacht interiors.’ Rademakers refers to the acclaimed My Sky, Galactica Star, Elena, Amore Mio and Galactica Super Nova. This requires a lot of talent. It is one reason why Heesen invests heavily in the acquisition of young talent.

Refit This pillar was introduced to ensure that Heesen’s Dutch quality standards can be maintained throughout the lifecycle of a yacht. Owners sometimes have to fall back on local shipyards and subcontractors when maintenance and repair work is required, This is why Heesen provides managerial assistance on necessary refit, repair and renewal work, either from a distance or on location. A flying squad of technicians is ready to travel at a moment’s notice to any location in the world.

Customer Support & After Sales This department consists of a warranty and customer support team. Heesen’s warranty team looks after all claims and warranty. Usually, warranty staff get involved a few months before delivery to make sure all parts are in excellent shape when the warranty period begins. Customer Support, on the other hand, provides general 24/7 support to any Heesen client in need, including on location with our flying squad. More recently, the shipyard launched a new service: the annual survey. This thorough periodical check ensures that yachts are signed off every quarter during the warranty period and annually thereafter. This is a mutually beneficial check, guarding the operational reliability as well as our brand image. This shift from reactive towards preventive and eventually predictive maintenance support means an impressive leap forward in customer service for all Heesen owners.
