BLIND DATE

What makes a Heesen so distinctive? Custom built in Holland, it is not just a matter of style but more importantly, the contemporary application of engineering: the architecture of performance. Our concept has evolved over 30 years and the experience we have accrued is unlike that of any other yacht builder in the world. Building in steel to enormously demanding tolerances, the Heesen hull-form is unique – quite simply no other ship shape so optimises the way a yacht moves through water. Meticulous attention to weight reduction results in increased levels of luxury. A Heesen is a Heesen because we are dedicated to one principle: the performance of luxury.

lind Date is the ďŹ fth 47 metre steel, full displacement yacht from Heesen. Custom-built in less than 24 months, she has a number of distinct features all made possible by our ability to adapt proven engineering performance. Her specially developed bulbous bow creates an anti-wave for a smoother path through the water. The result is a reduction in the power needed to achieve a given speed. Less power requires less fuel.

six metre tender and jetskis are housed in the large garage and launched by our track system eliminating the need for cranes. The transom unfolds to create a square teak swimming platform.

Designed by Omega, the aluminium superstructure is a beautiful fusion of curves. Tiers of semi-circles descend from the radar arch through sun deck, upper deck and main deck down to a gently cambered transom. The upper deck superstructure was customised and extended to include a gymnasium. Circular stairwells, circular tables, sofas, seating and even bars. One Blind Date definitely moves in the right circles.

he incredible 20 metre sun deck recreates the atmosphere of a private resort. Jacuzzi and sunbeds aft (circular, naturally), a bar and shaded dining area, and a forward full-width sun mattress. On the main deck, a bar in the saloon leads out to the aft deck creating a vast indoor and outdoor entertaining space.

Heesen superstructure is so strong that very few supporting pillars are needed. This means uninterupted views from the vast full-beam sofas on the aft main deck or when dining on the upper deck. All of the stainless steel work, including handrails, windlasses and even decorative details such as hurricane lamps, are manufactured in-house. By controlling the production process, we ensure everything is built to our standards.

The contemporary Art Deco interiors were London-based keech green’s first yacht interior design project. Their concepts were extremely sophisticated, technically demanding, complex and innovative – ideal for Heesen. The shipyard worked closely with a team of several specialists, including Oortgiese and Metrica, for building the structure. Liquid metal artists Based upon, collaborated with keech green to create marine panelling used throughout the yacht. The result is a fusion of form and function, meticulously installed into the interior design by Heesen.

ining the stairwell, a three-dimensional panel finished in antiqued liquid bronze and installed with 4.000 optical ďŹ bres extends for over eight metres. Heesen created the perfact surface to which this masterpiece of contemporary panelling was aďŹƒxed.

Heesen enabled the keech green design to come alive while taking care of the yacht building, safety, weight and performance characteristics, all of which cannot be compromised.

in the sky lounge, rosewood furniture and fine fabrics create an elegant atmosphere. Behind the central television cabinet is a bespoke games table for chess, draughts and cards.

he main deck master suite layout was adapted to create a walk-in wardrobe and a very substantial bathroom featuring a spectacular centrally mounted caramel onyx bath.

uest bedrooms on the lower deck include two equal Vips, one double and one twin cabin, all beautifully ďŹ nished in fabrics from designers Turnell + gignon and ralph Lauren.

All cabins have exotic onyx bathroom panelling. The skill of fitting mico-thin layers of this beautiful but brittle material is something for which Heesen master fitters have a peerless reputation.

eesen believes that the quality of the crew areas is directly related to the performance of the crew. The wheelhouse is handsomely furnished to create an eďŹƒcient working environment for the captain. The engine rooms and galley have been built to provide comfortable and well-organised environments for the crew to go about their duties.

n 30 years we have delivered over 150 yachts. Our current range of yachts includes aluminium and steel, displacement, semi-displacement and fast displacement hulls from 37-65 metres and beyond. Heesen is recognised as the world leader in aluminium yachts and our 65 metre fast displacement project is 30 per cent more efficient than any other yacht of this size.

Heesen moved into steel production in 2000 as a result of a specific client request. indeed 50 per cent of our sales are to existing clients, progressing through options of length, construction material and hull dynamics.
