Jenks High School-Hospital- On a weekly basis at St. Francis and St. John hospitals, members shadow nurses and nurse aides throughout the school year. Volunteers help the employees with their everyday activities while also independently working on small tasks such as taking patients to their rides, making beds, folding gowns, and assisting patients with their needs. (Written by Stella Huynh) Judson Early College Academy High School-Ramp Building-The ramp building allowed club members to work with the Texas Ramp Project to construct a wheelchair ramp for a home-bound member of the community. Volunteers with the ramp project were patient and worked with our members to teach us how to use power tools in order to put the ramp together. The experience allowed members to try something new while giving an individual back their independence. (Written by Emily Cecil) Lampasas High School-Alex's Lemonade Stand/Bake Sale-The Lampasas High School Key Club had recently done Alex’s Lemonade Stand, a fundraiser benefiting pediatric cancer. We had set up outside of Wal-Mart in the morning of June 15th and it was a big hit! We made over $350 in donations alone! the people were very supportive with donations and our club had such a fantastic time working together. (Written by Audrey Reese) MacArthur High School-Kiwanis Fishing Derby-Every year, MacArthur Key Club partners with the Lawton Kiwanis to put on the Fishing Derby. Kids from the local YMCA come to the event to fish, fly kites, and play games with our Key Clubbers. This great event gives everyone a chance to get out and active and interact with multiple groups within the community! (Written by Julia Welsh) North Crowley High School-Barnes and Noble-Every Saturday morning, North Crowley Key Club members meet at the Barnes and Noble for Story time to read to children and help them create a craft related to the story, which they work hard to make sure are fun and original.
