The project envisioned for the General Xie Memorial site and its surrounding neighborhood areas involves a blending of the built and natural environments through the creation of an urban wetlands system built spaces throughout the redevelopment zone. This plan enables the project to simultaneously increase the population density of the project area while creating a functioning wetlands system that will have runoff, increasing the sites overall property values, and most importantly, reconnecting the Chinese people with nature.

TAKING A REST

The word “Genius Loci” came out in classical Roman religion, and it means a protective spirit of a place. It was often depicted in religious iconography as a figure holding attributes such as a cornucopia, patera (libation bowl) or snake. The definition of it is that distinctive character or atmosphere of a place with reference to the impression that it makes on the mind. Considering that there are a lot of different definitions of genius loci, I have my own definition of it. As far as I'm concerned, a genius locus is a specific location and socially cultural influence. At first, a genius locus of a place needs to locate the heart of an area with frequent communication, and it has a special identification. Second, a genius locus is always in the center of socially cultural information network.

THE CONCEPT IN MID-GROUND IS RELAXING ROOMS, IN THIS AREA, THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF OUTDOOR ROOMS, ONE IS THE PLAZA WITH ENTRANCE, AND ANOTHER ONE IS PRIVATE SPACE FOR FAMILIES. IN THIS AREA, PEOPLE CAN HAVE A LOT OF FU 21 COOKOUT, FLY KITE, OUTDOOR THEATER, DANCE HALL OR CHESS, ETC.

THE FIRST PERSPECTIVE VIEW IS SHOWING THE PLAZA. THE DESIGN IS SIMPLE BUT USEFUL. VEGETATION AND PAVILION CREATED THE SPACE, AND I USED DIFFERENT PAVEMENT TO MAKE THE SPACE MORE IN RIGHT SCALE, AND ALSO CHILDREN CAN PLAY W THE BIG STRUCTURE IS DESIGNED BECAUSE OF THE SUN CHART AND ANNUAL AVERAGE TEMPERATURE.

IN THIS AREA, PEOPLE CAN LEARN THINGS AND KNOW BETTER ABOUT EACH OTHER, SUCH AS ECO EDUCATION, NATURAL ART EXHIBITION, OUTDOOR TEACHING, ETC. AND CHILDREN CAN PLAY WITH NATURAL FEATURES SUCH AS WATER, S THIS SECOND PERSPECTIVE VIEW IS SHOWING THE SUNKEN PLAZA. THE DESIGN IS USING VEGETATION TO MAKE A CLOSED ROOM. THE BIG STONE WITH PAINTINGS CAN HELP PEOPLE KNOW MORE ABOUT OUR WORLD AND THE MUSEUM, AND THE FOU ACTIVE.

THE CONCEPT IN BACKGROUND IS GARDEN ROOMS, IN THIS AREA, THERE ARE SEVERAL TYPES OF OUTDOOR ROOMS, BECAUSE THE MAIN CONCEPT IS “MYSTERIOUS RIPPLES” AND THE FOREGROUND AND MID-GROUND IS TRYING TO CONNECT WITH T SO THE BACKGROUND IS FOCUSING THE EMOTIONAL FEELINGS. IN THIS AREA, PEOPLE CAN DO MORE PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH EACH OTHER, SUCH AS BIKING, CAMPING, RUNNING OR JOGGING, YOGA, GROUP ACTIVITIES, FRISBEE AND RESTING, ETC THIS THIRD PERSPECTIVE VIEW IS SHOWING THE GARDEN OF REFLECTION. THE BEAUTIFUL REFLECTIVE WATER TABLE IS ARRANGED IN THE SMALL FOREST. BEFORE PEOPLE SEE IT, THEY WILL GO THROUGH A LONG CLOSED VEGETATION AREA WITH A LITTLE SU WHEN PEOPLE SEE THE SUN SHINES ON THE WATER TABLE AND THE REFLECTION OF BIG TREES, THEY WILL HAVE A NEW EMOTIONAL EXPERIENCE.
