SOROPTIMISTS (cont)

group now dedicated to making next year a very special one for us, and to this end we are hoping to mount a public display of our works over the previous 50 years and I can assure you, it will be a full display. The biggest problem will be what to leave out. Just starting to review the items in our archive is daunting and it also brings back fond memories of members now long gone but it’s wonderful to still have our founding President, Hazel, firmly within our group and what a diverse group it is!

Donations

It was agreed that our club would donate £100 towards the fundraising raffle at an event to be held at Pilling Village Hall on Sat 17th Sept for motor neuron disease. Members are also offering their support for the summer fete at Oaklands Care Home on Mon 29th Aug and pledged to cover the costs of hiring a bouncy castle and a generator. A sum of £125 was agreed to be spent to purchase 10 tickets for the Garstang Musical Productions matinee performance of ‘Calendar Girls’ on Sat 8th Oct and distribute these to chosen senior citizens. The club is still providing ongoing support for the Fylde Women’s Aid group and ask that any items such as new toiletries, nappies, new clothes, new toys etc be sent to our collection point of the Resources Centre (the old Liberal Club) on Bridge Street.
