Positioned for Strong Financial Incentives Another advantage of Sugar Cane Jamaica ’s established support from governmental agencies is its designation as a licensed destination by the Jamaica Tourist Board. This designation entitles any hotel/resort property between 10 and more than 350 rooms to benefit from certain tax and financial incentives that include:

• Employment Tax Credit (ETC) that may lower corporate income tax rates to as low as 17.5% - Most regulated companies are not eligible for the ETC, and typically are responsible for corporate tax rates of 25% • Reduced GCT rate of 10% as opposed to 16.5% for Hotel Incentives Act (HIA) properties • Capital allowances that include a broadened definition of “industrial buildings” to also apply to hotels/resorts • Duty-free imports of equipment and machinery for development

• Revised tariff rates ranging from 0% to no more than 20% (with some exceptions) • Income tax relief for certain overseas lenders who fund licensed hotel and resort cottage operations • Productive Input Relief (PIR) that exempts certain hotel industry-related items from custom duties and Additional Stamp Duties (ASD)
