The 2019 Range Rover offers off-road capability in an opulent package

Land Rover’s 2019 Range Rover offers a smooth ride on the pavement, and it’s no off-road poser either, scampering over extreme terrains without a flinch. The 2019 model is reminiscent of the 1970's original, like all Range Rovers, but with a very modern appeal.

With a wide range of engine options available, the 2019 Range Rover offers four basic powertrain systems. The entry-level models are powered with a 3.0 litre, supercharged V6 while the higher-end Autobiography and SVAutobiography models flaunt a 5.0 litre, supercharged V8; and a diesel V6 option is also available. The base V6 engine is rated at 340 hp or 380 hp. In either form, torque registers at 332 lb-ft and reaches 0-60 km/h in roughly seven seconds. Switch to the Range Rover’s diesel counterpart and the 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 builds on its 254 hp with 443 lb-ft of torque and a similar 0-60 range to its gas-fuelled cousin. The V8 engine boasts 518 HP and 461 lb-ft of torque and can take you from 0–60 km/h in as little as 5.1 seconds.

Available in short and long-wheelbase body styles, the 2019 Range Rover leaves no needs unmet. The short-wheelbase Range Rover comes in base, HSE, Autobiography and SVAutobiography editions; the long-wheelbase SUV only comes in Autobiography and SVAutobiography models. Whether on pavement or rough terrain, all Range Rovers come with full-time 4-wheel drive, rear-locking features, off-road traction modes and a tow rating of 7,716 pounds, proving itself wherever it goes. On the road, the Range Rover offers height-adjustable air suspension, offering up to 12.2 inches of ground clearance. Off-road, the updated water-wading depth sensor allows driving through almost three feet of standing water.

Inside, the Range Rover toes the line between style and functionality. Supple leather and wood-veneer trim adorn the interior. A sunroof spans the canopy offering panoramic views of the sky. The infotainment display, dubbed InControl Touch Pro Duo, features twin touch‑screens stacked in the center of the dash. The top screen manages navigation and audio, while the bottom screen handles climate control functions. Apple Car Play and Android Auto are available in all models. The Range Rover’s cargo offers a generous 32 cubic ft of cargo space behind the second row, allowing plenty of space for a family road trip. Upgrade to a higher-end model and the leather extends to the headliner, a massage function becomes available in the seats, along with brushed metal features throughout the console and a bottle cooler.

To sum it up, the 2019 Range Rover is a beast in a pretty package and is an absolute treat for both the family and outdoorsy types. It comes with a price tag, and a hefty one at that — starting at six figures and quickly climbing, depending on the bells and whistles...but such is the privilege of owning a Range Rover.
