Hello Joburgers, remember the simple days back in primary school when Valentine’s Day meant giving everyone in your class heart-shaped lollipops? Your mom packed your lunch with chocolate and biscuits and counted all your valentines with your friends. Easy. Simple. Uncomplicated. Fast-forward to now and the Februaryholidayconsists of aweirdminefieldof awkwardness, relationship expectations anddefinitions … eek!

Life is stressful enough, from work or studies to personal lives. ThenValentine’sDaycomesandthere’sthe addedpressure offiguring outhowto showyourlove andaffection foryoursomeone. Butdon’t worry – that’s where we come in. When I started planning this February issue, I predicted we’d stick with traditional Valentine’s Day fare, but via a little bit of karma or coincidence, the features in this month’smagazinecametogethertoofferadifferenttakeonthemeaning of love. You can only imagine my delight!
