Let's talk selling. Even more, specifically selling luxury online in niche markets with ease and grace. Now luxury does not mean diamonds and silk necessarily. Luxury is simply the vibe we want our clients to feel from whatever our products and services are. Luxury is a state of mind. If you can make your customer feel that purchasing what you are selling is a luxury experience for them, then the value is there. So how can you do this and stay authentic? Here are five easy steps to feel genuine, comfortable, transparent, and generous as you send off that invoice or process the sale you just made.
Step 1: Consider sales simply sharing what you are passionate about. That’s all it is. All you are doing is communicating what you do. Letting the potential client know why you are passionate about

For products, I’ll give you an example. In my hat world, I often lead with, “Expect random compliments from strangers you pass.” The statement I make is what happens when my clients wear their hats. They tell me all the time. So I lead with that in my conversations. Who doesn’t love a random compliment?! Remember, though, this is not a script. It’s a way to keep the conversation flowing naturally.
Step 3: Just answer questions. The sales process is simply a Q&A scenario. You know the questions that surround your field. Be the expert you are and answer them. For my consulting business, many of my clients are at the end of their ropes. They are feeling overwhelmed. Often they wonder what the next step to take is? So I start a conversation. I can empathize with them as I, too, have likely had all those same feelings. By relating authentically, I lighten the energy and build trust. Everyone’s guards are up for sales pitches, and a sales conversation is NOT a sales pitch. It’s my job to ease them into the idea that we are just having a conversation. So connecting on a genuine level is vital. Then you can dive deep into the core of the client’s needs. It’s about giving them hope. Clear steps. Ways to provide results Here’s a product example of selling something highend, online, made to order, and without the ability to try on first. I’m often asked, would a particular style of hat work for this person? This is a conversation starter. I start with the how-to’s”: . How to wear the hat. . What types of outfits to wear that style of hat with. . What occasions, etc.
I offer these "how-to's" because they are easily
relatable,
and
it
begins
the
process without putting them on the spot… yet. Next, I ask about them. We are all warmed up now, and there is an ease in the conversation. . Do they have occasions coming up? . Have they worn a hat before? . How tall are they? . What’s their comfort zone? . What colors dominate their wardrobes? . What about their outerwear? Through
this
back
and
forth
conversation, I end up with all the details I need to either process the hat they are interested in or make suggestions that will better suit their needs. That is high value! They know I am steering them in the right direction for their best interest. The more details I have, the more tailored experience I can offer.
Step 4: Pause and step back. The

important. It’s a lot to digest. One thing to consider, the bigger the ticket, the more necessary the pause. I end these conversations with an, “How about you

take a moment, see if there are any other questions I can answer for you, check your _________ (business needs or wardrobe for colors, etc.). I’ll reach out tomorrow and see how you are feeling."
Taking this pause gives me time as well to assess things. I can consider if I felt any resistance and how can I release that? When I do come back to (usually

Step 5: Bespoke your business. When it comes to sales, work with your
clients. Make it work for them. Sometimes it
means offering a split pay beyond what is listed. Meaning maybe you have a 2-way split option. But if you could make this a 3-
way or 4-way split, this potential client could say yes. Consider being open to working with people in a way that works for them. It’s pure gold!
When it was time to raise my prices for my hats, I had loyal clients that felt a little
resistance. The key to closing the sale was to offer a VIP % code specific to that client.
I’m not suggesting you discount everything you do for everyone. But a loyal client that often purchases whatever you are
launching, well heck, they deserve it. That
10-15% discount or free shipping or however you do it comes back to you 100%.
If you feel on the edge as you approach
sales in your business, the most important thing to remember is: When you are
genuine, closing a deal is an organic,
heartfelt experience. It’s got nothing to do

TAKE ACTION! DAY 1 Do a “Live” or a simple post sharing why you love this product or service so much. How has it has changed your life? What was the inspiration behind the creation of it? Just share your passion on your feed or in your stories and see if you receive any feedback.
DAY 4
Try taking the Five Steps and making them the focal point for your social media content this week! Choose a product or service you want to see traction with and make this your social media star.
DAY 2 Create a post that leads with the results about the product or service you chose. Use photos to help get your message across. Or post a testimonial!
DAY 3 Do a Q&A about the highlighted product or service or… create answers to the most common questions you get. Show off your expertise with a fun and informative post. Ask them to ask you!
Post something that has NOTHING to do with what you are highlighting. Consider this a palette cleanser. Inside of highlighting your product or service, why not post a picture of yourself living your dream. Something aspirational that highlights your unique personality. When you create posts like this, they help as a trustbuilder and make you instantly relatable.
DAY 5 Bespoke your post! Talk about the ways to pay. Do you offer split-pay? Create a post that lets your potential customers know about your modes of transactions. Do you offer free returns? That’s a post in itself. Ask your audience what their favorite way to purchase is? Get feedback. It’s valuable.

Imagine if you reversed yang's push energy that says "go-out-and-hunt-for-clients" for the more feminine pull energy of 'This is who I am, what I stand for, and why I'm the best fit for my perfect clients'. This is not just possible to master, but vital in this saturated online world. As you navigate the various social arenas, being and looking magnetic is the basis of a sustainable client attraction sequence. Your brand is the promise of the experience you are proposing. Your image confirms that promise. You are your brand. Memorable and successful personal brands clearly answer these three questions: Who am I? The answer lies in your Presence, Personality and Purpose. You must be crystal clear on your 'why', purpose, or mission. This is not to be confused with your message itself. Your 'why' is your belief and values system, but also your energetic presence. People buy into your values and energy over any attractive benefits and prices point. When your message is so on point that it rolls off the tongue and feels like your second skin, it will scoop up prospective clients up on all your web appearances, everywhere you go. When you are clear on your visionary woman archetypes and the values they stand for, they correspond not just to you but to your ideal client. Because selling is all about them, not you.

When all three archetypes are integrated into your brand and image, and your message is articulated clearly in a way that fits the classic 'Promise to Problem' template, then you will suddenly become a natural magnet to the ideal clients.

You want to enroll your soul clients from your discovery calls, your lives or from the online stage. And to magnetise lucrative JVs. That's the definition of a heart-centred entrepreneur.

So your job is to find out what alignment looks like for you, and then do that.

So, if indeed money is a happy by-product of alignment, that doesn't resonate to money. Maybe, with all the busyness, you're even at the point of overwhelm.
Trust me, if it's gotten to the point of overwhelm, you really need to do something about it.

I remember the first time I was called 'Nawal' and spat on in Egypt's streets. I had just left a meeting with a group of people attempting to build JCI Egypt, an international leadership and entrepreneurship development organisation. During the meeting, I had called out the upper-middle-class sexism, elitism and prejudice in the room; and I did it in Arabic, which brought many smiles to the women's faces in the room. This was unacceptable for those men in the room who didn't like a woman to take charge and they consequently called me 'Nawal!'.
At first, I didn't know what they meant, but then after a bit of research I realised that even though they had spat the name out in contempt at me, them calling me Nawal was one of the highest accolades I could ever have been given, especially as a female activist and writer. You see, when a woman stands in her power, educates herself and refuses to be beaten, we light a fire within other women. We show other women what is possible, and we lead the way just simply by being ourselves. You have everything within you to move, get over or go around every obstacle anyone puts in front of you. You were born for greatness, and those who try and control you, those who try and silence you, they do so because they are afraid of your power. This is true leadership.

Those words come rushing back to my memory as I pull my car into a metered space facing the Pacific Ocean, and turn off the ignition.
I notice my hands are sweaty as I lift 6:30am. In a couple of hours from now, I will be welcoming seven huge, 18wheeler semi-trucks full of food and

making their way the past few days from the east coast. Their destination is the street in front of The Salvation Army in
South Central Los Angeles. And that
street is the demarcation line between the Crypts and the Bloods – the two
deadliest and notorious rival gangs in
Los Angeles’ history. Today is December 15, 2008.
My mind races back over the last several months of preparation for the Largest Single Day Food Distribution in US history occurring simultaneously between Los Angeles and New York. I am the lead organizer on the West Coast, working with the staff at Feed the Children in Kentucky to pull off what had never been done before. Today we are preparing to provide food, bottled water, and personal care items to a mindboggling number of 5000 low-income families enough to last a family of five a month, and even a few toys, since it’s just days before Christmas. After receiving that call from the Los Angeles Police Department, my staff and I did all we could, making calls and sending releases and letters to the Mayor and Govenor’s offices and to the press, in effort to gain more Police support. Don’t they realize how dangerous this is? How can they give us one car to protect 7 Semi’s of free stuff people want and need for 5000

I say out loud as I feel my heartbeat loudly in my chest. All I can see is the vision from last year, when I was in Harlem watching 10,000 families gather to receive food, and seeing what looked like a hundred police officers, and squad cars on every corner as far as you could see, making sure all stayed in order! “Spryte, we have to have police presence! This is too dangerous a mission without it.” I had received this warning from Feed The Children, who was supplying the loaded trucks, a couple weeks back, but I had been unsuccessful in gaining more support, as riots were occurring in the city, and the Police had their hands already full. There was nothing I could do now, but let the trucks arrive. Nothing else… but pray.
“ArchAngel Michael, ArchAngel Michael, ArchAngel Michael, I really need your help, right now.”
I feel tears beginning to sting my eyes as I stare out at the blue waves crashing into shore. I put my shaking hands on my beating chest and close my eyes, “I need YOU and a million of your Warrior Angels, to surround the entire area of South Central where we will be. Please! Please, help us all be safe today.” continue under my breath to plead, “Please, please, please send your warrior angels,” and open my wet eyes to see a single white seagull flying in from over the water, and within two seconds lands on the electrical wire hanging directly in front of me. I instantly know this is ArchAngel Michael – I know because I can feel a warm comforting heat emanating from my heart, and I feel the tightness in my stomach beginning to ease off. I take a deep breath and sigh. “Thank you,” I’m saying, as just then behind the white seagull my eyes catch a glimpse of a strange sight. I find myself squinting to understand this black formation in the sky way off in the distance that is making its way closer to the shore, via a zig-zag pattern that reminds me of a swarm of bees!
But as the swarm gets closer I can see it’s a flock of black birds, swooshing their way through the blue sky, and expertly landing evenly on either side of the single white seagull! There must have been fifteen birds on either side of HIM! An uncontrollable wailing of tears pours out from me as I realize that ArchAngel Michael’s Warrior Angels have just arrived!

FRIEND OR FOE? Social Media can be a real pain in the butt for business owners. Although it’s a ‘free’ platform to reach a gazillion of potential clients, there is a lot of work that needs to be invested to create a good lead generation into your magical pipelines. There is the thing of the ‘algorithm’. Then the ‘content’ creation. The ‘bots’ (God help us!) The ‘influencers’ and celebrities. The ‘follow-for-follow’, ‘train’ or ‘ladder’ tactics. The Facebook (Instagram) Ads with absolutely NO customer support that will ban you and your account for no apparent reason(s). The keywords and hashtags (*sigh*). The ‘oh-so-shameful’ DM’s (ahhh!) coming straight out of the box with pitches (*rolls eyes*). And of course the CONSTANT updates to the platforms, completely throwing you as the business owner, right off track. If you’re nodding your head, reading this with me now, you know where I’m coming from. Social Media Marketing is a kind of love-hate relationship right? Really making you ponder on whether it is your friend or your foe? You almost tip-toe on eggs, to prevent ANY conflict. It is exhausting. I am not going to lie. Which is why it is ‘oh-so-important’ that whatever you’ll be doing on social media, to ensure that it makes your heart sing, even when it’s not all sweet smelling roses.
How can you have fun marketing on social media? First, understand the platforms and how they work AND create content that will be viewed by your audience. YOU may not like doing an Instagram Reel, but that is how your audience is VIEWING content. And your audience is where the lead generation happens, i.e. yummy sales. Right now, in 2021, the audience viewing on social media is around short-form content that is jam-packed with juiciness within 60 seconds in an Instagram Reel or TikTok video. ‘Ugh’ I hear you say? And I hear you - I have heard this from many of my clients and community. Many saying things like ‘I don’t want to sit and stare into a camera and ‘point’ at words’ or ‘I cannot dance or move and I feel stupid doing so’ … It’s funny the perception of these short-form videos because what you tend to see (mostly) are all the viral videos of exactly these ‘pointing-to-words’ or ‘dancing’. In reality though, you can do whatever the hell is most authentic to you. One of my clients, is a vibrant 50+ woman, feels comfortable being on video but resisted the Instagram Reels with all that she had in her. After much consideration (on her part), she decided to give a video a go and her audience LOVED it - so much so, that she started doing MORE of the same videos (pointing haha). Another member in my Facebook Group community, who hadn’t been active on Instagram in a L O N G time, took on the challenge from my group to create a video with prompts from me, she did and posted it on her feed and voilá her audience LOVED it - she got engagement and eyeballs on her content. Since then, she’s been using more of the Reels, it’s fast and easy and gets the content in front of your audience.
Remember this last tip: You as a business owner, now have the incredible advantage of having your own MEDIA agency at your fingertips with your phone and short-form videos using TikTok or Reels. There are effects, music, dueting with other creators and so much more. You need to treat your content as having a conversation with friends - not ‘some strangers out there that could be potential clients'. Have fun. Show your authenticity. I personally follow a gorgeous couple of grandma’s on TikTok (90+ years!) who share their life as divorcées, widows or still single with their grandkids. Just connecting with REAL people and real talent without all the ‘fake’ images and influencers (especially on TikTok) just reminds you that social media CAN be fun, if you open your heart to it. Olives are among some of the healthiest fruits on the planet, associated with the Mediterranean regions.
