Brasilia an utopia for the 21st century

Brazil :
First modern city listed as World Heritage by UNESCO, Brasilia is the symbol of achieving a true social and political utopia. The city was built in just over 5 years in a Savannah with trees in the centre of Brazil and the project was one of town planner and designer Lucio COSTA and architect Oscar NIEMEYER. Brasilia’s ambition was to allow the happiness of a new urban human and to propose a new model of togetherness and social integration. Five decades later, one can only observe the spread of its urbanization around the city which has somehow altered the vision of its founding fathers. Brasilia now has two million inhabitants instead of the 500 000 expected at the start. But the myth is still alive and the Brazilian people are very much attached to their unusual city.
