Construction of Mini Roundabout at SR 138 and North Moseley Drive Set to Begin Next Week Contractors for the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) will begin construction of a mini Roundabout at the intersection of SR 138 and North Moseley Drive in Henry County beginning Wednesday, July 6. By close of business Tuesday, July 5, crews will close access to North Moseley Drive from SR 138 at the intersection. Henry County DOT crews will place detour signs to direct motorists around the work zone. Local traffic will be able to access the residences and schools along North Moseley Drive using alternate routes. The contractor will install barrels along SR 138 to channelize traffic. This will allow them to construct the center island of the roundabout. During construction; traffic will be flagged and directed to a single lane through the intersection. Once the inner island is complete, the contractor will pave the circle and the 3 approaches and finally restripe the intersection. “I am very appreciative of GDOT for expediting this project,” said Henry County District 4 Commissioner, Blake Prince. “This is a great example of what can get done when GDOT and Henry County work together.” Motorists are advised to be alert to changing traffic patterns at the intersection and will be directed through this work zone using a flagger. The purpose of the proposed project is to improve the operational efficiency of the existing intersection of SR 138 and North Moseley Drive. Weather permitting; construction will be completed prior to the beginning of the upcoming school year.
