Henry County Cuts Ribbon on Fairview Safety Complex

The Henry County Board of Commissioners, along with members of the Henry henrycountyonline.com County Fire Department and Henry County Police Department, held a ribbon-cutting for more viewing options ceremony on Wednesday, January 12, celebrating the completion of the Fairview including Facebook and Public Safety Complex. District V Commissioner Bruce Holmes shared his thoughts about the poignant day and recounted the vision and the foresight to see the necessity of a police precinct and fire station in the Fairview area. He also expressed his gratitude to the men and women of Henry County public safety and thanked the contractors involved in the project. “When we had the idea of bringing this public safety campus closer to Fairview and Panola, it was about brining safety closer to the commercial corridor and closer to our subdivisions, to help keep our community safe. And I think that’s what you’re going to see. Thank you to our fire department and thank you to our police department,” said Holmes. Henry County Emergency Rental Assistance Program Provides Assistance for Those Affected by COVID The Henry County COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) provides financial assistance for rent, utilities (gas, water / sewer, electricity, internet) and security deposits. The federally funded program works to bridge the gap for those who have lost income due to COVID-19. Both landlords and tenants are eligible to apply and tenants must meet certain guidelines:

The Fairview Police Precinct is a nearly 3,000 square foot building that contains a watch office, lobby, conference room, break room and staff offices. Fire Station No. 6 is a new station to replace the original and is a three bay, 8,600 square ft., stateof-the-art facility that features sleeping quarters, a kitchen, laundry room, a common living area, a fitness room and staff offices. The station is also equipped with a new pumper truck and ambulance. Henry County Fire Chief Jonathan Burnette said Station No. 6 will add to the great service Henry County firefighters provide to its citizens on a daily basis and expressed the importance of the station due to the growth in the county. “Henry County Fire Department having a fire station out here in the Fairview area allows our brave

men and women to extend that excellent service that we strive for everyday even further out into the community,” said Burnette. “Every citizen and visitor to Henry County deserves our best, and this allows us to do that.” Architect for the Fairview Public Safety Complex was Bill Howell with the Howell Group, Inc. of Marietta; engineer was Land Engineering of McDonough; and contractor was J.R. Bowman Construction Co. of McDonough. The $3.9 million project was made possible under the SPLOST IV and the SPLOST V initiatives. The public was invited to tour the new facilities and meet with their local law enforcement and fire professionals and other county representatives. The Public Safety Complex is strategically located on Fairview Road in the heart of the Ellenwood/ Fairview Community, directly across from the Home Depot.

January 25, 2022 Board Approves Agreements and Purchases The Henry County Board of Commissioners approved several resolutions at the January 19 Commission meeting. Items approved include: • Department of Transportation resolution – approved payment to E.R. Snell in the amount of $59,692 for resurfacing of Kentwood Springs Drive. • Facilities Maintenance resolution – approved roof replacement at Heritage Senior Center and Hidden Valley Senior Center with Garland/DBS, Inc. in the amount of $349,970 using Capital Improvement Plan fund (COPS) funds, as approved by the Board in the CIP. • Fire Department resolutions – approved acceptance of a donation in the amount of $500 from Tanger Outlet Center and approved of a Budget Amendment; approved a Contract for Services with Access2Care LLC for the Nurse Navigation Solution and LYFT Rideshare Program with an estimated cost of $155,100 with a one time implementation cost of $25,000 with a yearly increase not exceeding 3 percent. • Police Department resolutions – approved acceptance of a grant in the amount of $25,200

for the Naloxone (Narcan) Program for the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council for the Henry County Police Department; awarded a bid to Ed’s Public Safety for the purchase of Weapons and Sight Systems for the Henry County Police Department, using the RedSpeed Funds, in the amount of $249,274 and declared 328 used pistols as surplus for trade-in purposes; and approved a request to apply and accept the Governor’s Officer of Highway Safety (GOHS) grant in the amount of $157,901.60 for the Heat Program. • Technology Services resolution – approved licensing and implementation of Tyler Technology’s Public Safety Mobile Site License, CrewForce and ShieldForce System for cost of $231,330 with an additional yearly maintenance of $48,579 added to the yearly Tyler Public Safety maintenance. • Transit Department resolution – approved adoption of Henry County Transit Master Plan.
