With over 100 CPD courses run throughout 2018, Henry Schein Halas delivers CPD courses that are up to date with the latest technology and research to provide dental professionals with valuable knowledge and take-home tools that can be incorporated into the dental practice. Below are our top picks for the 2nd edition. During August and November, the Connect Dental team will be running their Integrating Digital Dentistry Evening at the Henry Schein Halas offices throughout Australia. This free information evening is designed for clinicians and technicians who are looking at moving into digital dentistry. You will have an opportunity to hear from leading dentists who have already transitioned into digital dentistry as well as a chance to meet with the top digital manufacturing brands and view demonstrations for scanning, designing and 3D Printing.

Henry Schein Halas are proudly partnering with Hu-Friedy in September for Risky Business: Minimising Risk in the Dental Practice where presenters will spend the day providing you with a snap shot on areas such as duty of care, positional ergonomics, successful risk detection and minimising sharps injuries and instrument breakages.

In October we welcome 16 distinguished influencers and trusted voices of the dental profession to the 10th International Quintessence Symposium on Periodontics & Restorative Dentistry focusing on New Frontiers of Aesthetic Excellence by integrating the best of traditional and digital dentistry. The core essence of the symposium on 12-14 October 2018 is to educate and inspire attendees, by presenting a program of restorative dentistry and periodontology, focusing on aesthetic excellence. For the first time, a unique pre-symposium day will be hosted on Thursday 11 October with an emphasis on implant dentistry – not to be missed if you prefer a more in-depth presentation. The Symposium offers a rare opportunity to meet leading international dental experts who will discuss a wide range of topics that will shape the future of the dental industry.

Excellence in Chairside CAD/CAM Restorations A didactic & hands-on course Presented by Associate Professor Max Guazzato & Dr Linda Quach

8 CPD HOURS It doesn’t matter if you own a chair-side CAD/CAM unit or if you send your ceramic work to your technician, this hands-on course will give you a good helping of ceramic restoration knowledge. Expert knowledge from a very experienced team will be shared with you about ceramics and CAD/ CAM in general. More importantly, this workshop will give you tips and tricks to make your ceramic restorations last.

QUEENSLAND Saturday 21 July Henry Schein Halas Ground Floor, 8 Gardner Close Milton QLD 4064 Time: 8:30 - 5:30PM Cost: $850

In many cases you can be more conservative by offering onlays instead of crowns to your patients. This course will run through techniques from case identification to execution with chair-side & labmade restorations. The lectures and workshop will answer those questions that come up when you are in the ‘hot seat’. Is the tooth preparation adequate and will the restoration fit? More importantly, does the ceramic restoration look good and will it last the distance? When it’s time to choose a material for a clinical situation do you know when and why to choose a certain product? What about the paradigm shift in resistance and retention form? And how do you predictably bond ceramic restorations to the tooth? Understanding the intricacies of ceramics is the key to longevity, minimising failures and remakes and hence increasing your profits. The objective of the course is to focus on the key factors that will lead to a quality and long-lasting ceramic restoration for your practice and your patients. COURSE OBJECTIVES:

• • • • • • • • • • • • •

Case Selection, Treatment Planning & Workflow Clinical outcome studies Material Selection & Mechanical properties for inlay, onlay, veneers & single crowns The influence of composition and microstructure on glass ceramics Optical properties & Shade Selection Preparation design & Principles- Cloning or library Scanning tips Handling of glass ceramics for durability & longevity Milling & handling of ceramics with polishing, staining and minimal layering Bonding to Ceramics Finishing and polishing of ceramic restorations Simplified ceramic staining and glazing techniques Bonding & luting techniques & protocols
