The Advanced Direct Composite and the Indirect Posterior Aesthetic Restoration - Mini Residency Master Class Pesented by Dr. Jason Smithson in association with Dr. Anthony Mak

CPD HOURS Range from 8.5 - 34 The Mini-Residency Master Class Series Overview The use of both direct anterior resin and indirect posterior ceramic aesthetic restorations for the natural dentition has become the cornerstone of the modern dental practice. However, constant evolution of materials and techniques has made the planning and execution for this modality of restorations increasingly complex and challenging. Presented by World-Renowned clinician and teacher, Dr Jason Smithson, and supported by one of Australia’s best, Dr Anthony Mak, the Mini-Residency Master Class Program aims to provide participating dentists with the core knowledge and confidence to predictably deliver these forms of restorations in everyday practice. Mini-Residency Master Class Program consists of the following components: Bonded Indirect Aesthetic Restorations in the Posterior Dentition The goal of the workshop is to lead the participants through each of the clinical steps, in a logical and methodical manner, to the final delivery of the restoration.

NEW SOUTH WALES

The hands on component of the workshop includes:

29th March to 1 April 2017

• THE ONLAY PREPARATION (molar) • THE FULL CROWN PREPARATION (Vertical margins)

TIME: 8.30am – 6pm

The lecture component of the “Bonded Indirect Aesthetic Restorations in the Posterior Dentition” aims to provide the didactic teaching for this modality of restoration, allowing the participant to confidently and immediately implement the proven concepts learned in their daily restorative practices. The Advanced Direct Anterior Master Class The practical class is a natural partner to the presentation where concepts covered in the lecture component of the program are further expanded and reinforced through hands-on exercises on dental models to ensure a complete understanding of the concepts and principles in managing many challenging presentations seen in everyday practice. The approach is casual and delegates are encouraged to ask questions as they work.

LOCATION: Park Hyatt 7 Hickson Road The Rocks NSW COST: Complete Master Class Series $6600 Lecture Series only $990

The Advanced Direct Anterior Master Class Lecture Series Direct resins in the anterior dentition can produce functional, highly aesthetic long lasting restorations, which are conservative of tooth structure. This Lecture Series is designed to provide scientifically based didactic teaching and clinical experience, to allow the clinicians to confidently approach more challenging anterior cases encountered in everyday practice with direct resin. In today’s clinical environment the success of orthodontic treatment is not only measured by the goals of obtaining an aesthetics, functional and stable result but these goals must also be achieved in an effective and efficient way. The debates over bracket designs, wire types, arch form, ligation techniques, aligner therapy as well as many procedures touted to increase the speed of tooth movement rages throughout the literature. Through all of this the basic requirements for orthodontic tooth movement have not changed over the years. With the understanding and mastering of ‘simplified common sense orthodontic biomechanics’ orthodontic treatment can be provided in a qualitative manner with efficiency. Our goal is to set-up simplified force systems to address any type of tooth movement necessary, because in orthodontics ‘tooth movement’ has always been the name of the game.

This program will be limited to a small group to ensure open communication throughout the course and a personalised experience for participants. COURSE TOPICS: Endodontic management of tooth is an integral part of routine general dentistry. Primarily a microorganism caused pulpal and periapical disease could be a challenging task for diagnosis and treatment planning. Each tooth has a unique anatomy of root canal system with various numbers, curvatures as well as apical exits of canals, leading to a new set of challenges every time the endodontic treatment is attempted. Dr Desai will be discussing and sharing useful tips and tricks for day-to-day endodontic assessment, diagnosis and treatment procedures. The aim of the workshop is to simplify simple to moderate case scenarios as well as identify and minimize potential complications. The day course is primarily hands-on workshop for access preparation, locating and shaping of the root canal system as well as using current techniques and tools for root fillings. The participants would gain ample practice on extracted teeth with a view to gradual and smooth transition into their clinical practice. The workshop involves step-by-step demonstration of modern treatment procedures along with hands-on workshop on extracted teeth. LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Philosophy Over the years we realized that specific skills in handling tissues is the priority in implant therapy. Adjusting soft tissue handling to the specific anatomy and biotype of each pacient. For this reason the courses at Steigmann Institute focus to teach this specific, valid techniques during surgery and prosthetics in a unique comprehensive way. Hands-on on human like tissue helps incorporate up-to-date scientific based surgical approach in daily practice. Finding out there is a need for a more structured approach in learning about the soft tissue, we offer the whole range of soft tissue management for every location in the oral cavity: 1. for bone augmentation 2. for the aesthetic zone 3. prosthetic soft tissue development

Module 1 In time bone augmentation has moved from highly specialized clinics into the dental office. With the help ofmodern grafting material the augmentation volume in the dental office has increased year by year. However themain issue remains soft tissue closure for high volume augmentation, especially in the posterior mandible andposterior maxilla. We developed special flap designs and suturing techniques specific to location to solve this ongoing soft tissue management problem. The participants will learn and practice how to solve this soft tissue closure problem according to the location.

Aesthetic in implant dentistry is in the actual focus today. In the past a general tendency to mimic /copy teeth with implants was observed-functional and aesthetically. Surgical techniques from oral surgery or periodontology were used in implant surgery however aesthetically unsuccessful. Hence new incision position, depth, angulation according to the interproximal bone and soft tissue biotype are necessary.New incision flap designs and suturing techniques have been developed or adjusted to address the aesthetic needs around implants and avoid or correct failures in the aesthetic zone. Preserving the soft tissue or repairing soft tissue failures around implant will be teached.

Module 3 In addition to surgical intervention is the creation of the specific emergence profile that is essential in the aesthetic zone. The emergence profile composed of 2 parts, the abutment and the subgingival part of the crown. The shape of abutment can be individually shaped so that it gives natural appearance and varies individually (depending on the depth, angulation and diameter of the implant). Sometimes it even dictates the implant position. From a surgical perspective, soft tissue height, position and thickness need to be diagnosed and corrected when needed. From the prosthetic point of view, the emergence profile has to be created to mimic the natural appearance and maintained over time. The course teaches step by step how to be successful with implant prosthetics from single tooth, partially edentulous to full arch reconstruction.
