Initial presentation

Provisional restoration removed, tooth isolated and ready for core build-up with a dual-cure resin composite.

Core build-up in place, onlay preparation completed and double-cored retraction.

A PVS impression was taken and the case sent to a milling centre and laboratory to have the restoration fabricated using a laboratory-based mill.

Completed restoration returned from the lab. GC CERASMART A2 HT was selected. Lab work by Mr Aron Hajdu (W Labs, Sydney NSW).

Provisional onlay removed, and ready for cementation.

The fitting surface of the restoration is prepared for adhesive bonding. GC CERASMART can be air abraded using 50 micron alumina particles, or etched with 5% HF hydrofluoric acid for 60 seconds.

G-Multi Primer applied to the fitting surface of the CERASMART restoration.

Prior to application of G-Premio Bond, the enamel margins are selectively etched.

It will be an informative and entertaining evening which will not only increase your knowledge of orthodontic hygiene considerations but also make you feel more comfortable when dealing with orthodontic patients.

About the presenter Dr Eric B. Lowenhaupt, D.D.S. attended Florida State University for undergraduate studies and Emory University in Atlanta for his Dental and Orthodontic training. He completed a general practice residency and practiced general dentistry for six years before returning for his graduate orthodontic training at Emory University. Since 1986, he has been in the private practice of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics in Florida.

Monitoring the Cleaning Process in your Practice … The Cleaning Process is a very important step in your Infection Control Processes. Why? Because if an instrument is not clean, it cannot be sterilised. During cleaning in Washer Disinfectors and Ultrasonic Baths, the combination of detergent and mechanical force of the machine (eg. Water spray or ultrasonic waves) are responsible for the removal of soils (eg. Fats and proteins) from instruments. gke Australia offer Indicators to monitor the cleaning process in your machine. There is currently no standard or definition for “clean” however we can monitor the efficacy of the process. A number of factors can affect the cleaning process such as the type of detergent, dosage of the detergent, water quality (tap water versus Reverse Osmosis or Deionised water) and performance of the machine itself. A fail on one of gke’s Cleaning Process Monitoring Indicators can identify an issue with one of these factors. A fail is indicated when the indicator has only been partially washed off. Which Level Indicator? Level 2, Green or Level 3, Blue? Choosing the Level 2 (Green) indicators for use with Enzymatic detergents and choosing the Level 3 (Blue) indicators for use with Alkaline detergents. Steps for using the gke Cleaning Process Monitoring Indicators: 1. Select indicator for either Washer Disinfector or Ultrasonic Bath depending on detergent used. - Enzymatic detergent - select Level 2 (Green) Indicator - Alkaline detergent select Level 3 (Blue) Indicator 2. Validate your machine using the Indicators with a perfect Pass result as indicated in the pass/fail chart. 3. Daily routine monitoring of cleaning process, place the indicator in holder within every load. 4. At the conclusion of the process ensure the indicator has been completely washed off. If the Indicator has not been completely removed (fail result) troubleshooting of the process is necessary. 5. Adhere / Scan the indicator to your log book or patient notes.
