What is Hep C? Hepa s C is a virus which can cause inflamma on of the liver. It is transmi ed by blood to bloodstream contact which means that it can only be transmi ed when blood from a person who has the virus enters the bloodstream of another perston.

How do people get Hep C?

You CAN’T get Hep C by…

• By sharing any equipment used for injec ng drugs. • By having ta ooing and body piercing with unsterile equipment. • Some people got Hep C through blood transfusions before 1990. • Some people contracted Hep C in other countries through unsterile medical and dental procedures.s

• Sex unless there is blood to blood contact (including menstrual blood) • Sharing food or drinks • Sharing cigare es • Kissing or hugging • Sharing baths or in swimming pools • Toilet seats • Mosquito bites
