Derby

THURSDAY, AUGUST 8, 7:30pm

Cars smashing and crashing, being totally demolished intentionally, will be the scene Thursday, August 8th at the Klamath County Fairgrounds John Hancock Event Center, when the 2nd annual “Battle of the Basin Destruction Derby” begins with a bang! A giant field of destruction fans will compete for a grand prize of $1250.00. Gates open at 6:00pm, with the first heat scheduled to begin the excitement at 7:30pm. Heats will single out the top finisher’s to qualify for the highlight, the giant destruction finale, where the action continues until one car is left running and the “Best of the Basin” is determined. The event also includes a ‘Powder Puff’ and ‘80’s & Newer’ heat. Entry blanks are available at the Fair Office.

The greased pig contest is being held on Sunday at 11am at the Indoor Arena. Kolton Peterson, a senior and 4-H member, is coordinating this year’s Greased Pig contest for his senior project. Planning on entering? Please bring a food item for the Klamath Lake County food bank! AT THE INDOOR ARENA:

Main Stage Entertainers Nephilim NEPHILIM is Klamath Falls PREMIER DANCE BAND, playing large and small venues. Pros at making people DANCE . The leader of Nephilim, Myron Hale, a native of the Deep South, comes to us from Ft. Lauderdale Florida. Myron is a true professional with over 30 years of experience performing in the top clubs and hotels the United States has to offer with groups such as The Doc Holiday Band, Tiny Tim Show, and Sight and Sound Show Band just to name a few. Sophia Carter Sophia is a senior and varsity cheerleader at Bend Senior High School who loves to hula hoop any chance she gets. By teaching her-self five years ago she has since then had the opportunity to perform at the Klamath County, Tulelake Butte-Valley, and Deschutes County Fair as well as talent shows and competitions for hundreds of people. She has also had a back injury that has affected her ability to hula hoop, but she is stronger now and ready now then ever to perform for you this year at the Klamath County Fair! Natalie Carter

Natalie Rae Carter is back at the Klamath County Fair for her ninth year in a row. Natalie sang the opening anthem for Chris Cagle, performed and was critiqued by country music singer Linda Davis, a student of world renowned voice coach Renee Grant Williams and has performed at the fairs in Klamath County, Spokane County, NW Montana, Deschutes County, Tulelake Butte Valley, Jefferson County and Jackson County for the past ten years. Natalie has also tried out for both nationally televised talent shows, “American Idol” and “America’s Got Talent” PERFORMING ON THE MAIN STAGE:

The Amazing Larmay entertains family audiences with comedy magic, dazzling deceptions, balloon sculpturing, mind reading miracles, and a vast array of magical feats. The Amazing Larmay's audience participation magic shows are a popular favorite wherever he goes. The Amazing Larmay has been entertaining his audiences professionally for over 25 years. He has performed aboard the Cruise ship The SS Emerald Seas, in other countries, on television and in many theaters, night clubs, fairs, and trade shows throughout the United State. Mood Swing Ron Houck and Pamela Jones have been performing music together as Mood Swing, for over 19 years, at pubs, fairs and festivals around the country and at their own venue, “Mood Swing The Club”, in Klamath Falls, Oregon. Although most well known for his bass playing (upright and electric), for the last six years, the guitar has been Ron’s instrument of choice. They are often joined by Sir Walter Raleigh, their 11 year-old Border Collie mix, and yes, he DOES sing. There are several songs that he loves and knows quite well, including originals: “Raleigh’s Blues” and “Bloom Where You’re Planted.” PERFORMING ON THE LAWN STAGE:
