Goa Government has backtracked its decision not allowing bikini-clad women in the tourism promotional advertisements. The State has chosen three beauties - Miss Russia 2009 Svetlana Stepankovskaya, Miss India 2010 finalist Alisha Pekha and Bollywood actress Mahima Chaudhary for promoting Goa tourism in the Russian and UK markets. While the two Indian beauties have added glamour to the English version, the advertisement was re-shot with same content featuring Stepankovskaya in the Russian language. The 60-second ad, entirely shot in Goa shows the celebrity models enjoying at the beach in bikinis and visiting some of the renowned tourist spots like temples,

Anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare today firmly ruled out any changes in civil society’s nominees in Lokpal Bill drafting committee, asserting there were no differences af ter Baba Ramdev’s criticism on inclusion of father-son duo Shanti and Prashant Bhushan. Declaring they were focussed on having a “good and effective” law against graft, the 73-yearold social activist also said the process of formulating the act will be videographed and the procedures made public, a day after he ended his fast demanding a stronger anti-corruption Lokpal Bill. “The committee has been set up now. Now we have to see how to take it forward. The preparations of the draft will begin from April 16. The entire process should be videographed so that people can see who is saying what. What Government is saying, what we are saying. There will be nothing in hiding”. The Gandhian went on a damage control mode to make it

Opposition to Rohan Sippy’s upcoming flick ‘Dum Maro Dum’ seems to be only on paper as far as the Goa Government is concerned. is not a permanent committee of five to 10 years,” he told reporters. “He had raised with me the issue of why Bedi was not a member of the panel. I explained to him that Bedi herself has told us that she did not want to be part of the panel. I told him that this committee is not a permanent one and the Bhushans have legal expertise”, Hazare said in Haridwar. Ramdev, who had joined Hazare in the agitation, alleged inclusion of the Bhushans in the committee showed nepotism. “Why is there nepotism in the committee? Why both father and son are accommodated in the committee?” Ramdev had asked. Ramdev was at pains later to emphasise that the representatives of the civil society were united and there was no differences. He claimed there was some misunderstanding and that the issue has been sorted out and claimed that the question of nepotism was raised by the media.

Says CM will have to accept PTAs’ demand PWD Minister Churchill Alemao on Sunday said that Chief Minister Digambar Kamat will have to accept English as the Medium of instruction at the primary level if the PTAs are all in favour of English medium. Speaking at Nuvem this morning, Alemao said the time has come for parents to demand voting on the issue, adding that the Government would have no option than to accept the verdict of the PTAs. Reiterating his demand for an opinion poll on the controversy, Alemao said such a poll would resolve the row.

Saying that the poor and backward sections of society cannot afford English education, Alemao said the high class people have only backstabbed the common man during the Konkani agitation by making Devnagiri and Marathi. “People such as Uday Bhembre and Pun-
