Dense fog in the Capital on Sunday led airlines to cancel, divert or delay around 100 domestic and international flights putting thousands of passengers to hardship prompting Government to step in with new steps like relaxing visibility criteria to mitigate the problem. Around 38 flights including three in the international sector were cancelled while around 42 flights, including 14 international had to be diverted to Hyderabad, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Kolkata and Lucknow as the runway visibility in the IGIA dropped to less than 100 metres for several hours, according to Government and Air-

Under the new rules, the visibility range has been relaxed and brought down from 175 metres to 150 metres for operation of large aircraft and 150 metres to 125 metres for smaller planes. No flights will be operate if the visibility is lower than 50 metres. Aircrafts which are not compliant with category 3B conditions (low visibility) will follow a separate “fog schedule” and such flights will be allowed to land only after 10 am. lines officials. Along with VJ Nikhil, the festival running in its fourth edition will have 60 DJs including some top names like Paul Van Dyk, Ferry Corsten, Pearl, Ma Faiza and Dave Seaman playing electronic music. “Sunburn is a synergy of music, entertainment, food,

shopping and lifestyle attracting music tourism in Goa. Since its birth in 2007, Sunburn has brought together renowned Indian and international DJs to entertain the crowd of thousands,” Nikhil, who has hosted the first two seasons of ‘Splistvilla’ on MTV channel, said. In a major Temple burglary, miscreants looted the Shree Shantadurga Quittolkarin Temple at Quittol village in Quepem taluka Saturday night, decamping with silver and gold ornaments, besides cash worth lakh of rupees. While the Cuncolim police is assessing the total loss of property, the management of the Temple Committee told newsmen that the value of the silver and gold ornaments could go up to over Rs 25 lakh.
