Police keep off Atala threats case Say they cannot take action due to ‘jurisdictional issues’ HERALD REPORTER PANJIM, MAY 17

The CID C r i m e Branch today said it cannot take any action into reports of d e a t h threats by Israeli drug dealer Yaniv Benahim alias Atala to his former girlfriend and Swedish model Lucky Farmhouse, citing ‘jurisdictional issues’. Lucky had exposed the police-drugs mafia nexus in Goa by uploading a spycam video on youtube.com wherein Atala admitted to links with Police Inspector Ashish Shirodkar. The Crime Branch instead of acting on the reports has said that the Swedish police should look into the matter as Lucky Farmhouse was in Sweden when

she was threatened. Speaking to reporters Crime Branch Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Chandrakant Salgaonkar, said that it was for the local police to investigate the death threats to Lucky from her ex boyfriend and dreaded drug dealer Yaniv Benail alias Atala. “We have to see where she was, when the threats were made to her by phone. There are jurisdictional issues,” Salgaonkar said adding “We should also see where the phone calls came from.” “If the call was made here then the local police station will have to look into the death threats but if she was in Sweden, when the call was made then maybe the Swedish police should be told to probe,” Salgaonkar continued.
