Craftsman style architecture emerged in America in the early 1900s, marking a return to handcrafted, natural materials that had been overshadowed by mass production during the industrial revolution. Today, Craftsman homes are being designed to accommodate the modern lifestyle, while preserving the warmth and charm that defines its open, yet sensible style. Heavy use of exposed woodwork gives Craftsman homes their warmth and signature charm. You’ll find most Craftsman designs feature a return to artistic, handcrafted wood details like decorative moldings, chair and picture railings and wood paneling. Exposed beams, built-in shelving and intricate crown moldings in warm wood tones are also traditional Craftsman touches. Our Favorite Apple Pie Recipe Fall is a wonderful time of year, not only for the rich colors nature has to offer, but also because it kick starts a season of family traditions and holidays. It is also the time when we dust off our family cookbooks to create traditional dishes and desserts. For many of us it conjures up a warm memory of time spent in the kitchen waiting eagerly to help and taste all these wonderful, seasonal creations. If you love apples, fall is the perfect time to gather the family to your local farm for apple picking and then spend an afternoon in the kitchen making the perfect apple pie. Fabulous & Eco-Friendly Front Entry Doors

The first impression your home gives from the street is key to how your house is perceived. And at the very center of curb appeal is your front door and overall design of your home. It’s where you welcome the world to your home and it sets the tone for your entire house. When it comes time to selecting an entry door, it is important to understand the various materials and style options available to enhance your home’s aesthetics and complement its architectural style. Because the main entrance commands so much attention, manufacturers are making it easy to create a custom, yet affordable entry door. Here are some of our favorite eye-catching, green designs to give your home lasting curb appeal:

1

The Classic-Craft® American Style Collection™ from Therma-Tru® was designed to complement the most popular architectural styles, such as Craftsman, Cottage, Traditional and Colonial. The exterior doors in this collection have the look and feel of real wood thanks to its AccuGrain™ technology. Unlike genuine wood doors, these fiberglass entry doors resist splitting, cracking and rotting.

2

Peachtree’s® top-of-the-line fiberglass entry doors offer six times the energy efficiency of conventional wood doors. Textured panels and gorgeous glass bring timeless elegance to any home. Their glass is available in their patented Zo-e-shield® glass, which is dubbed the “World’s Best Energy Glass.”

3

Therma-Tru’s® Smooth-Star® Collection™ fiberglass doors feature tough, compression-molded fiberglass with deep detailed panels and a smooth paint-grade surface. This

Efficient & Stylish Front Entry Doors perfectly stylish yet rugged entry door, resists the dents and dings from day-to-day traffic and will never rust or corrode. There’s a reason the industry calls it “The Steel-Beater Fiberglass Door.”

4 5

Jeld-Wen’s® Architectural Fiberglass Collection™ of entry doors feature great detailing for a more genuine wood appearance. Perfectly complement a Craftsman, Shaker or Mission style home with the designs in this collection, which also feature period-appropriate glass designs. Don’t forget to take your design inside with Jeld-Wen’s® full line of complementary interior doors. Timeless styles and a rich mahogany finish come together to create the Fiber-Classic® Mahogany Collection™ from Therma-Tru®, the leader in fiberglass entry doors. The collection features an eight-foot door to complement the growing popularity of designing a grand entrance with high ceilings. Don’t forget to add decorative glass to showcase your home’s architectural style. And as for efficiency, these doors feature a solid polyurethane foam core that offers an insulation value that is five times greater than wood doors.
