MANAGER'S MESSAGE
By Rob Ciapanna
As we approach the season of giving, we are excited to invite you to a special fundraising event on November 15 at Port Royal Golf & Racquet Club.
We will be raising money for two incredibly impactful organizations: the Heritage Cares Foundation and Madison's Miracles, Inc
Heritage Cares Foundation:
The Heritage Cares Foundation provides essential support to our employees in times of crisis. By offering comprehensive services, financial assistance, and resources, it helps employees regain stability and thrive both personally and professionally. Your support for the Heritage Cares Foundation means lending a helping hand to colleagues when they need it most. Two current Palmetto Hall employees have already benefited from the foundation’s financial assistance.
Madison's Miracles, Inc.:
Madison’s Miracles, Inc. is a charitable organization that supports families grieving the loss of a young adult child This nonprofit is dedicated to offering compassionate assistance, financial support, personalized service planning, and expert referrals, guiding families through the darkest of times.
In addition, Madison’s Miracles, Inc. will donate funds to the JonPaul (JP) Gonzalez Scholarship Fund through Tormenta FC Soccer Fund, coordinated by the Ibis Foundation, to give underprivileged children the opportunity to participate

PARKER'S POINTERS
by Parker Mulford
So here we are… the oppressive heat and humidity that lingered over us for many months this year have finally lifted.
The cooler evenings are causing the leaves to fall, and the heavy rough is starting to thin It’s now comfortable to play in the middle of the day What better time to evaluate your equipment and clothing?
First thing that comes to mind is grips. The extreme temperatures wreak havoc on the compounds, deteriorating them at a rapid pace Worn-out grips can lead to swing flaws as we compensate for the lack of control With Golf Galaxy conveniently located nearby, fall is the perfect time to regrip your clubs for the winter season. You might even consider a change in style or size step outside the box and try a few different products from various manufacturers It could have a big, positive impact Next up are shoes. Do the spikes need replacing after a summer of wear? Golf Galaxy has what you need, and we can change them out for you at the shop. If your shoes are spikeless, check to see if there’s still enough traction to get the job done You might also want to consider switching to a different style many players choose one pair for summer and another for winter.
Lastly, let’s talk about clothing This isn’t just a plug for the shop, but we ’ ve got a great selection for the cooler months possibly the best we ’ ve had in a long time Manufacturers are redefining how golfers can dress for colder weather, with new textiles and blends offering lightweight comfort and cutting-edge climate performance Do some research This isn’t your grandma’s outerwear
Embrace this time of year fall is arguably the best time to play. I can’t wait to step away from the desk and join you on the fairways this month Get equipped, get dressed, and go for par!

TURK TALK

Fall is in the air, which means overseeding time is here We will begin overseeding after the AGT events to prepare for our November activities
This year, we have decided to overseed the tees and greens on both golf courses to help maintain consistent playing conditions We will also overseed the driving range tee and the practice chipping area to protect the turf from heavy traffic and use throughout the winter and spring
We will apply seed on the greens, which may have a slight impact on playability for a couple of weeks, as we will be watering more than normal to promote seed germination. This period is crucial for the health and playability of our greens over the next six months, and it will require some TLC during the process We will need to skip morning mowing periodically to work the seed into the canopy without moving it from its target locations on the greens and tee tops Irrigation and dew can leave the surfaces damp in the mornings, causing the seed to stick to the rollers and tires, which can relocate it to unwanted areas. As the seedlings begin to emerge, they are very tender and not well-rooted During this time, we may need to skip mowing to avoid tearing the seedlings from the ground. If necessary, we will attempt dry cuts in the afternoons, depending on the amount of play, weather conditions, and the germination stage of the seedlings
We look forward to a great fall and holiday season
See you on the course!
