USGA RULES As a member of the USGA, TPC Prestancia plays under the rules put in place by the governing body of golf unless otherwise noted in the local rules.

LOCAL RULES 1.

Play the ball as it lies unless otherwise stated by the Professional Golf Staff.

2.

The Embedded Ball Rule is in effect “through the green”. On The days that are “cart path only”, all players will be able to lift, clean and drop their ball through the green. This also applies to any hole that may be “cart path only” due to course conditions.

3.

The golf course edge of a roadway will denote out of bounds on holes #1, 2,9,11, and 12. (Stadium Course).

4.

If an active fire ant hill interferes with the proper playing of the game, a player may obtain relief. (Decision 1 4/10)

5.

Bulkheads, retaining walls and pilings are an integral part of the golf course and no relief is granted.

6.

All waste areas are defined by “any vegetation growing in the area” with the exception of the #10 and #16 (Stadium) green side bunkers. The fairway bunkers on #12 (Stadium) will be played as a waste area.

7.

Drop areas are located at the holes #4, 16, and 18 (Stadium) and on #11 (Players). A player may only proceed to #18 (Stadium) drop area following the second shot or thereafter.

10/19/2020 1:48:43 PM

GOLF OPERATIONS GOLF OPERATIONS 8.

Free relief may be taken any time your ball is within 2 club lengths of a sprinkler head that is within 2 club lengths of the green and on your intended line of play. The ball must be lifted and dropped at the nearest point of relief, no closer to the hole and within one club length from that spot. (Appendix 1-B-6.)

9.

The Grooves around the pine straw are considered ground under repair. However, interference by a groove with the player’s stance is deemed not, of itself, interference under rule 25 1. If the ball lies in or touches the groove or the grooving interferes with the area of the swing, relief is available under rule 25 1.

10. Stones in bunkers are deemed movable obstructions when the stone may represent a danger to players (a player could be injured by a stone struck by the players club in an attempt to play the ball) and may interfere with the proper playing of the game. (Rule 24 1 applies) 11. Distance Measuring Devices (i.e. GPS) are permitted for all events. 12. Local Rule E-5 “When a player’s ball has not been found or is known or virtually certain to be out of bounds, the player may proceed as follows rather than proceeding under stroke and distance. For two penalty strokes, the player may take relief by dropping the original ball or another ball in this relief area (see Rule 14.3)

HANDICAPS Members at TPC Prestancia have complimentary access to the USGA’s GHIN Handicap System. New members should contact the staff in the Golf Shop prior to their first entry to set up their account. Please be sure to notify staff of any existing GHIN numbers so that your handicap and scores from previous entries will carry over to your membership at TPC Prestancia. In order to play in TPC Prestancia golf events and tournaments, you must be an amateur golfer with an established handicap. Players wh o do not have an established handicap must play at a zero handicap. Players shall use their handicap in effect at the time of the competition, unless stated otherwise. All 9-hole and 18-hole rounds played both home and away, need to be posted in accordance with the USGA Handicap System. If a player has a different handicap at a different club, the player shall use the lowest handicap when competing. Any individual’s handicap may receive an adjustment by the Handicap Committee if they judge it to be inaccurate.

GOLF OPERATIONS NET DOUBLE BOGEY The USGA Equitable Stroke Control became effective on January 2020 and states that a score for any hole must be reduced according to the players HOME COURSE HANDICAP (course being played).

CONCEDED PUTTS AND INCOMPLETE HOLES When a player fails to hole out, in either stroke play or match play, the Handicap System requires that a score be posted. Section 4-1 of the USGA Handicap System Manual states, “If a player starts but does not complete a hole or is conceded a stroke, he/she shall record for handicap purposes the score he/she most likely would have made. The most likely score consists of the number of strokes already taken, plus, in his/her best judgment, the number of strokes that the player would need to complete the hole from that position more than half of the time.” If you play at least 7 holes, you are required to post a 9-hole score. If you play at least 13 holes, you are required to post an 18-hole score. For those holes you did not play, you are required to take a par plus any strokes allocated on those particular holes.

TEE IT FORWARD The Tee it FORWARD program encourages golfers to play from the set of tees that best fits their game, based on driver distance. The objective is for golfers to have a more enjoyable experience on the course and to potentially play faster. For more information on this initiative, please contact the staff in the Golf Shop.

POSTING SCORES Each member is responsible for posting their score on Ghin by either using the Ghin App or the Ghin website. Please contact the Golf Shop staff if in doubt about which scores should be posted. To play a round of golf and not post your score defeats the purpose of the handicap system. Please use the Equitable Stroke Control (ESC) when posting your score. If you need any assistance with the ESC Scoring or posting of the score, please contact the Golf Professional Staff.

STARTING PROCEDURE All players should begin their round from #1 tee, unless receiving permission from a member of the Professional Staff or the Starter to begin on #10.

PACE OF PLAY Each member is asked to take responsibility for the pace of their group and to maintain their proper position on the golf course at all times. The Club strives to ensure that ALL 18 hole rounds are played in no more than four (4) hours. In addition, members are asked to inform their guests of the Club’s pace of play policy. GOLF OPERATIONS FOUR HOUR ROUND - HELPFUL HINTS 1.

Play ready golf.

2.

Keep up with the group ahead.

3.

Prepare for your next shot while others are hitting (i.e. selecting club, pre-shot routine, etc.).

4.

Line up your putt while others are putting.

5.

When driving a golf cart, drop off your partner and then proceed to your own ball.

GOLF CART RENTALS Personal golf carts may be driven to the Club for transportation and parked in the staging area during your round. However, members must use a golf cart from the fleet at TPC Prestancia when playing a round. The way mechanized golf carts are used is a significant factor in maintaining the condition of the golf course. Members and guests should adhere to the following guidelines:

1.

The driver of a golf cart must have a valid automobile drivers license and be 16 years of age or older.

2.

Only two (2) people are to ride in a golf cart and only two (2) bags are to be carried.

3.

While renting a golf cart, the member is responsible for any damage to the vehicle.

4.

Golf carts should be driven on paths or scattered in fairway and rough whenever possible.

7.

Players with physical limitations must also abide by the 30 foot rule. Handicap flags will only be issued to players that have signed player TPC Prestancia ADA Handicap agreement. On cart path only days, handicap flags will only be provided at the sole discretion of the Director of Golf.

GOLF OPERATIONS GOLF OPERATIONS GOLF CARTS AND GPS SYSTEMS The golf carts at TPC Prestancia are equipped with Visage GPS Systems which not only provide players with yardage to the front, middle and back of the greens but also helps the golf shop monitor pace of play. The GPS devices track the cart’s movement throughout the course and will notify groups if they are behind the Club’s four-hour pace of play policy. The GPS devices also restrict carts from getting too close to the greens and tees. Located on the course is a white stake with a green cap, which signals players that they can enter the fairway with their carts. At the other end of the hole is a white stake with a red cap, indicating that carts must return to the cart path. If your cart crosses these indicators the golf cart will come to a stop and begin beeping. To “unlock” the cart, you will need to place the cart into reverse and back-up out of the restricted zone. Once you are clear, the cart will stop beeping and you can resume the cart’s normal operation.

ADDITIONAL GOLF CART SAFETY RULES 1.

No golf cart will be operated by an intoxicated person.

2.

Only authorized people may drive a golf cart.

3.

Do not drive the golf cart until all occupants are seated.

4.

Prior to driving the golf cart, check to see if it is set to go forward or backwards; make adjustments as necessary.

5.

Always drive straight up and down a hill.

6.

Never make a sharp turn, even on a straight-away. Approach a hill or rise in a straight line.

7.

Never stan d u p i n a m o v i n g golf cart.

8.

Never pull a pushcart behind the golf cart.

9.

Slow down and drive with extra caution when the grass is wet. Set the parking brake before leaving the cart.

10. Remove the keys when the golf cart is left unattended.

CART PATH ONLY DAYS Extreme weather conditions may occasionally dictate that golf carts remain on the cart path for the entire round. In these instances, me mbers will be notified verbally and via signage in the Golf Shop and at the Starter Building. The Players Course is typically closed on Cart Path Only days. Any play scheduled on the Players Course that falls on one of the Cart Path Only days will be relocated to the Stadium Course on a space available basis.

GOLF COURSE MAINTENANCE

(GROUNDS & GREENS TEAM)

AGRONOMY PROGRAMS TPC Prestancia is proud to be a “Green” Club and Green Business Partner with The Sarasota Chamber Commerce of Sarasota. We use the most environmental safe practices to encourage good stewardship of the planet. The incorporation of cultural practices and sound fertility and water management programs are necessary to ensure a quality playing surface. This process improves infiltration, relieves compaction and provides a channel for gas exchange. This will help to sustain a healthy root system to support top growth, which affects the composition of the putting/hitting surface. The agronomic cultural schedule has been carefully planned based on the life cycle of the plant species, climate conditions and the timing of major golfing events.

GENERAL COURSE SCHEDULE The Stadium Course and Players Course are open seven (7) days a week from October through May. With 565 acres of which 250 are manicured, one will see our grounds and greens team caring for the property. Located within a community, we respect our neighbors and do not operate machinery until 7:00am. With this we ask the first players of the morning to not jump ahead of the team so we are able to keep on schedule for the day.

June to October, on Mondays, one of the courses will be closed for care and one will be open for play.

GOLF COURSE MAINTENANCE

(GROUNDS & GREENS TEAM)

AERIFICATION SCHEDULE The courses will have a summer Aerification schedule put in place by spring. We close each course three times for a week during the summer months to accomplish the best turf care practices. During this time one of the two courses will remain open, and we offer a reciprocal play program with other local courses to ensure you have a smooth playing surface.

AUDUBON COOPERATIVE SANCTUARY CERTIFICATION TPC Prestancia is proud to be one of the globally recognized Audubon Cooperative Golf Sanctuaries. This certification helps us protect the environment and preserve the natural heritage of the game. Many golf courses around the country are involved in the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary program, but few complete the rigorous certification process. The certification process is designed to recognize and support golf courses that have worked to ensure a high degree of environmental quality for both people and wildlife. There are six certification categories to satisfy in order to be recognized as a Certified Cooperative Sanctuary. The six categories are: Environmental Planning, Wildlife and Habitat Management, Chemical Use, Reduction and Safety, Water Conservation, and Water Quality Management, Outreach and Education. On March 22, 1997, TPC Prestancia became the 151st golf course to receive full certification. The Club is evaluated every two years for compliance and continued environmental enhancement. TPC Prestancia also hosts an Audubon Conservationist presentation each year to educate and share the wildlife we have in the region. Members are also invited to participate in the Property Audubon Bird count each winter. We typically locate over 130 different bird types on the courses.
