Family Tributes TO OUR GRANDDAD
We will think about you always and talk about you often! You will never be forgotten! We will hold you close within our hearts and there you will remain, to walk and guide us through our lives until we meet again…. ~ Your Grandchildren ~ TO DAD WITH LOVE Goodbyes are not forever, Goodbyes are not the end; they simply mean we’ll miss you until we meet again…. ~ Your Children ~
TO MY LOVE Your battle is now over; no more tears flowing down your cheek, no more pain, no more suffering, now you are no longer weak. I still do not understand why this had to happen to you, but I’m proud to say you are my love the greatest man I ever knew. Now you are my angel Amels, so spread your wings out wide, please wrap them around me whenever you see me cry. I will miss you always until we meet again…. ~ Love, Olivett ~
Life Reflections Amels Rodgers Jr. was born September 22, 1944, to the late Amels Rodgers Sr. and Mary Beatrice Rodgers. He was the oldest of nine siblings. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at Dean Hill Missionary Baptist Church. He was united in holy matrimony to Margisteen Pruitt Rodgers and the two remained friends until her death in 2011. He retired from BFI after many years of service. He will be most remembered for his gift of telling stories and making others laugh! One sibling, William Rodgers, Sr., preceded him in death. Amels leaves a cherished legacy to his five children: Marcia Rodgers, Minister Tony (Charlene) Pruitt, Reginald Rodgers, Richard Rodgers, and Minister Rolandaus (Patrice) Rodgers. He was the loving and caring grandfather of eleven grandchildren: Chad, Detarrius, Keelan, Tonye’a, Richard II, Bernard (Denisha), Rakesha, Rashad, TraMesha, Ryan, and Rylen and great grandfather of five: Kenya, Amyrah, Carlos, Dejah, and Bryson. He also leaves behind five sisters: Vera (Lonnie) Reed, Melinda Hawkins, Gail White, Kathy (Mack) Newberry, and Mae Johnson and two brothers, Isaac (Verlee) Rodgers and Donald Ray Rodgers along with a host of nieces, nephews, and a longtime caring companion Olivett Harris. We all will miss him dearly.
Celebration of Life
“38For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39, KJV) Processional . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
