OObituary
Annette Deloris Rivers was born on January, 02 1957, as one of nine children to the late Clarence and Mosetta Bobo of Memphis, TN. Annette was a lifelong member of the Powerhouse C.O.G.I.C, where she was saved and filled with the Holy Ghost at an early age. There, she met and eventually married the love of her life, Jerry Rivers on March 12, 1977. She was an alumni of Fairley High School and later studied at Vocational Technical School developing various leadership skills. She was gainfully employed at the Internal Revenue Service as a Document Editor. She also worked in various capacities at the Census Bureau, Koinonia Day Care Center, and Graceland Elem., where she was also affectionately known as “The Candy Lady”, just to name a few of her many passions. Though Annette served in many positions in the church, her most notable devotions were to the youth department as the Youth Choir President and the Inspirational and Sanctuary Choirs, serving as one of the directors. Annette has never met a stranger. She expressed her love through her cooking where she operated with a spirit of excellence. As soon as anyone met her, they immediately had a place at the dinner table, in family games, and in her heart, even to the degree of sheltering families. Moreover, Annette was a strong believer in Hebrews 12:6 and possessed a mothering quality for those whom she loved and even took the liberty of chastening. Thus the saying was coined by her husband, “If you eat, you can be beat.” Aside from her parents, Annette was preceded in death by three siblings: Clarence Bobo Jr. (In infancy), Amy Bobo and Patricia Bobo Brown. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 43 years, Elder Jerry Rivers; four children, Temika Rivers- Johnson (Anthony), Jerry Rivers Jr., Lannette Rivers and Derrick Rivers (Shana); her siblings, Robertstine Payne, Michael Bobo, Clarice Bobo-Harvey, Sharon Bobo and Clarence A.Bobo; four grandchildren, Kimiya, E.J., Elijah and Caleb, four god-children Tira, Richard, Danyelle and C.J., numerous nieces and nephews, along with a host of extended family and friends. The Family would like to express their gratefulness for everyone’s extended reach of love and support.
