Remembering a Survivor
Bevelyn Marie Sharp-Smith was born on February 6, 1966, in Memphis, Tennessee to the late Pastor Leon and First Lady Bunny Sharp She gave her life to Christ, and accepted Him as her Lord and Savior at an early age. On Friday, February 23, 2018, Bevelyn transitioned from her earthly life to be with her Lord! Bevelyn graduated from Hamilton High School in 1984. She enjoyed attending events, and spending time with family, classmates, and close friends. Bevelyn was the epitome of a fighter and survivor! She tackled and endured many challenges throughout life, but her faith and belief in God never wavered. She was diagnosed with Breast Cancer TWICE, but her faith, strength, and determination resulted in 27 years of being free of breast cancer! She became an advocate, spokesperson, and volunteer for the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the Making Strides Breast Cancer Organization, where she worked to increase awareness and work toward finding a cure. She would always begin her testimony with, “When I think of the goodness of Jesus, and all that He’s done for me, my soul cries out HALLELUJAH! I thank God for saving me! Bevelyn was preceded in death by her loving parents, First Lady Bunny Sharp (2010) and Pastor Leon Sharp (2012); her granddaughter, Brooklyn Marie (2013), and her sister, LuCretia Sharp (2017).” Her sweet, loving memory will always be cherished by her husband, Sidney Smith, her two children: Deleon D. Pearson, Sr. and Bonita S. Sharp; three grandchildren: Deleon Jr., Z’Miya, and Jamari; three sisters: Barbara Sharp, LaShelle Sharp, and Tanedra McCall (Mario); a nephiew, Kemion Green (Monica), a niece, T-Marie Watson, and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, an uncle, Godsister, Rennie Thompson (Terrell), and other close friends.
