Obituary
David Eugene Long was born October 2, 1958, in Goodman, Mississippi to the late Will and Christeen Long. He professed a hope and love for Christ at an early age under the leadership of Rev. W. M. Fields Jr., at Vollintine Baptist Church. He was gifted with a melodious voice, which he used to sing with the Youth Choir, leading a number of songs including the classic, “Take Me Back”. David attended Memphis City Schools and graduated from Northside High School in 1976. He joined the United States Army in 1981, and served proudly for 11 years. He loved people and was a natural giver and comedian! David was preceded in death by his mother and father, Will and Christeen Long, two sisters: Gerldine Howard and Dorthy Houston; and one grandson, Donte Suggars. To cherish his memory, David leaves two daughters, Eumecca and Mia; one son, David (Ramonica); five sisters: Jacqueline Mondie, Juanita Keener of Carrollton, Texas, Willie Lynn West, Carolyn Long-Edwards (Robert) and Gwendolyn Long; three brothers: Jerry Howard of Goodman, Mississippi, Michael Long (Carol Jean) and Randy Long; aunts, Josephine Davis and Lula Mae Durham of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; grandchildren, Tammia, Roshana, Rodriquez, Jasmyne, Leslie, Lester, and X’Zavier; and one great-grandson, DeAngelo. He also leavesa host of nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends who were touched by his life and will continue to honor his legacy.
