Family Tributes Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. 30Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. 31Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate. (Proverbs 31:29-31, NIV)

WE HAD A WONDERFUL MOTHER We had a wonderful mother, One who never really grew old; Her smile was made of sunshine, And her heart was solid gold; Her eyes were as bright as shining stars, And in her cheeks fair roses we’d see. We had a wonderful mother, And that’s the way it will always be With Love, Your Girls

0 UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN, “LI’L MAMA” We think about you always, We talk about you still You have never been forgotten, And you never will. We hold you close within our hearts And there you will remain, To walk and guide us through our lives, Until we meet again. Remembered Always, Your Grandchildren

Life Reflections Ethel Donald Dean was born in Sand Hill, Mississippi on April 20, 1921, to the late Henry and Susie Donald. She was the tenth of eleven children. She confessed her faith at an early age at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Mississippi. She was married to Sidney Dean, who preceded her in death along with her parents, seven brothers: Charles, Mingo, James, Walter, John Henry, George, Joseph, and David Donald; three sisters: Susie M. Chaffee, Betty Davis, and Zora Taylor. To her family and friends, she was affectionately known as Li’l Mama. She believed in the love and unity of family. She never failed to share Bible verses with those who would pay her a visit. She was quick, witty, sassy, and funny. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. Ethel attended the Medical Institute and received her caregiving certificate, which allowed her the opportunity to care for many patients in their homes and to become employed with the Resthaven Nursing Home. Ethel united with Mount Bethel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend C. Mickens, Jr. in 1966, where she started Vacation Bible School, served in the Missionary Society and later served as a Church Mother. She served Mount Bethel, now under the leadership of Pastor Naquin Brooks, until her health started to fail and she could no longer attend services. Ms. Dean departed this life peacefully at Midtown Health and Rehab Center. She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters: Bonnie Burress, Susie A. Nall (Charles), Mary V. Shaw, all of Memphis, Tennessee; fifteen grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
