To My Loving Husband
You were a GREAT husband!
When I think of the general family, a very special person stands out in my mind. You were in a class of your own as a king upon a throne. You can truly be described as one of a kind. The love that you had in the depths of your heart was a love unlike any other. The warmth of your affections was true and sincere, for it reflected the love of a husband. You were the center of our family and the apple of our eyes. In your heart is where love truly did abide. You were as humble as a dove and known for spreading love. For all who knew you, this trait was clearly recognized. There will never be another to take the place of my husband throughout this earthly land, for God made him very special in the beginning of His master plan! With Love Until We Meet Again...

Family Tributes
Grandpa, words cannot express the love I have for you. You raised me along with my precious mom and grandma. I always loved to hear you sing “Give Me Oil in My Lamp...Keep Me Burning!” You were a dynamic man of God filled with the Holy Spirit. I truly believe that thousands were saved because of your ministry. I will always remember your testimony of falling from a six-story building and how God restored your life. I loved to see you dance, pray, and preach God’s Word! You were a wonderful role model, and lived for the Lord each day.
The truth is, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives new life from Heaven. So, don’t be surprised at my statement that you must be born again. Just as you can hear the wind but can’t tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can’t explain how people are born of the Spirit. (John 3:5-8) Love, Although your life had to end, our love doesn’t. You were such an example of love at its best! Your smile that could light a dark room; your hugs that warmed a cold heart and most of all your living for Christ will always be stored here in our hearts. Death leaves a heartache that no one can heal; but LOVE leaves a memory that no one can steal.

We had a wonderful grandpa. One who never really grew old. His smile was made of sunshine, and his heart was made of gold. His eyes were bright as shining stars. And in his cheeks fair roses you see. We had a wonderful grandpa, and that’s the way it will always be. But take heed, because he’s still keeping an eye on all of us. So, let’s make sure he will like what he sees! Rest in Peace Grandpa,
Li’l George
Our grandpa was the epitome of a Godly man. Throughout our childhood, he would get us off to school in the morning and pick us up in the evening. He would take us to the “will” (Goodwill) for toys and goodies. As children, we would dread going but would end up leaving happy! He was a very jovial man. In our 26 and 28 years of knowing him, not once did we see him upset. He taught many valuable lessons. He taught us to “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” He taught that “in all your getting, get a good understanding.” He taught us that “a bird in the hand is better than a bird in the nest.” Above all, he taught us how to be loving to one another. His memory and kind words will be passed down to our future generations. We Love You Grandpa,
Gicole and Amber
Obituary
Bishop George Valentine was born January 23, 1940, to the late Peter and Bernice Valentine of Clarksdale, Mississippi. He was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School in Memphis, Tennessee. He was an astute student and was recognized in the Who’s Who of American High School Students publication. He attended DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois, and he was a retiree of the Midwest Farms Ice Cream Factory. Bishop Valentine was united in Holy Matrimony to Dorothy Jean Thompson; to this union, three children were born. One daughter, Tonya E. Valentine, preceded him in death. Bishop Valentine confessed a hope in Christ at an early age. He was a man of tremendous faith and was a proud instrument in spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He began his work for the Lord early as President of the Youth Ministry at Walker Memorial Christian Church. He was ordained by the late Bishop J. O. Patterson, Sr. in the Church of God in Christ and later by Bishop J. D. Drinnon of Miracle Ministry International Fellowship. He later united with Full Gospel Tabernacle under Bishop Al Green and served as an Associate Minister until death. George loved the Lord and without hesitation, he would let you know that wherever he was, “The presence of the Lord is here.” Bishop Valentine enjoyed life and people. He was the life of the party and his joyful spirit and hearty laugh made others smile. He never met a stranger and was quick to bestow the title of “my friend” to all. On Tuesday, August 13, 2019, Bishop Valentine transitioned from labor to reward where he now abides with his Heavenly Father. He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted wife of 59 years, Dorothy Valentine; a son, George Valentine, Jr. (Faye); a daughter, Dr. Gwanda Patterson (Darrell); four granddaughters: Patrice Valentine, Amanda Valentine, Gicole Patterson, and Amber Townes (Logan); one grandson, George Valentine, III; five great grandchildren: JaNyia Buford, Tristan, Takiyah and Teighan Jackson and Lakyn Townes; one brother: Fred “Squeaky” Valentine (Helena) of Washington, D.C.; four brothers-in-law, six sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.

Dad,
Family Tributes
If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane I would walk right up to Heaven and bring you back again. No farewell words were spoken. No time to say “goodbye” You were gone before we knew it, and only God knows why. My heart still aches with sadness, and secret tears still flow What it meant to lose you no one will ever know. But now I know you want me to mourn for you no more; To remember all the happy times. Life still has much in store! Since you’ll never be forgotten, I pledge to you today A hallowed place within my heart is where you’ll always stay.
George, Jr. Your Son,
Dad... Dad... Words can not express the loss that I feel. You have been a beacon of light for me in my darkest hour. You were a true man of God. Your smile, laughter, and encouraging demeanor will live on through me. Heaven is smiling at your arrival. You will be missed immensely. Love,
Dr. Gwanda Patterson
