Life Reflections

Mosel Gillespie Anthony was born to the late Elmore Gillespie and Corey Bryant Gillespie on April 14, 1924, in DeSoto County, Mississippi. Throughout her lifetime, her love and dedication to her family was obvious to anyone who met her. She heard God’s voice and went to be with Him on December 8, 2018, surrounded by family and friends.

Mosel accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour at a very early age. Throughout her lifetime, she represented Him in her character and deeds toward her fellow man. She became a member of the Channel Hill Baptist Church as a young adult and served there for several decades. Her church family cherishes her services as an Usher, member of the Mothers’ Ministry, and as a shining and consistent example of God’s love. She married Mr. Robert Lee Anthony on May 31, 1947 and devoted her life to him for 54 glorious years until he passed away. Together, they loved and cared for their son, Oscar D. Gillespie, who passed away in 1995. Mosel was an excellent cook who loved to bake. With a genuine and sincere heart, she remained willing to help anyone at any time and she counted her service as an usher as an honor. In addition to her parents, her husband, and her dear son, ten siblings preceded her in death: William, Oscar, John Henry, Manuel, Charles, Robert, Harry, Charlene, Daisy Mae, and Pearline. To cherish her memory, she leaves a dear sister, Annie Mae Sykes (Jimmy); a beloved niece, Carlene Begnaud (Rodney); her precious granddaughter, Kimberlyn D. Gillespie; a grandson, Rodney Pierce; six great-grandchildren: DeSean, Deja, Joshua, Jeremiah, Summer and Sky; three sisters-in-law: Beverly Gillespie, Pearlie Mae Gillespie, and Dorothy Jean Gillespie; one brother-in-law, Johnny Anthony (Arthella); and two goddaughters, Rena Zellander and Genevieve Anthony.

2 Timothy 4:7-8 King James Version (KJV) I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. 7
