Of a Life Well-Lived Jerry Lee Light, Sr. was born January 8, 1952, to Percy Sawyer, Sr. and Beulah Light in Memphis, Tennessee. He departed this life on Saturday, May 7, 2022, surrounded by his family. He accepted Christ at an early age. His final membership was at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Hughes, Arkansas were he served as a Deacon. He worked as truck driver and retired as a cab driver in 2014. He was a 1970 graduate of the historic Booker T. Washington High School. During his life he loved to fish and shoot pool. He loved to watch football and was a diehard fan of the New Orleans Saints! He was a devoted husband and father who loved his wife, children, and grandchildren dearly. He loved spoiling his grandkids. He was preceded in death by his father, Percy Sawyer, Sr., and two brothers: Harvey Sawyer and Carl Sawyer. To cherish his memory, Jerry leaves his wife of 33 years, Anita Faye Light; five children: Leslie Light, Jerry Lee Light, Jr. (Sheree), Jonathan Light, Jerrica Hull, Jeremy Barrett; his mother, Beulah Mae Sawyer; four brothers: Percy James (Janie), Archie Evans (Sharon), Isaac Sawyer, Bruce Sawyer (Rebecca); three sisters: Annette Sawyer, Amanda Sawyer, and Diana Sawyer; ten grandchildren JaVora, Sheritha, Darquisha, Jerry, III (Mel-lisa), JaVon, Keviana, Jonathan Jr., Lundyn, Zoe, Zariyah; three great-grand children, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
