REMEMBERING
John Thomas Catron, Sr. John Catron (affectionately known as Sir) was born January 26, 1940, in Somerville, Tennessee to the late Velma Powell and Sammy Dyer. He graduated from Fayette Ware High School in Somerville Tennessee. After High School, he proudly served his county by joining the United States Army, where he served with pride and dignity. After leaving the Army he married the love of his life, Lovell Parker Catron. They were married for 42 years until July 01, 2019, where they were united again in Heaven. John was a very intelligent, self-taught mechanic. He was employed by Jeffcoat Motors for fifteen years. He later used his entrepreneurial sprit to the become the owner and operator of John’s Automotive Service, usig his business as a ministry to serve the community by helping people in need. John repaired cars for low income families for little to no cost. John was truly a man of God. He didn’t just read the Bible; he lived it - allowing people to see God’s power in his everyday walk. He believed in loving people and treating everyone with respect. He was a devoted member of Traveler’s Rest M. B. Church Number 1, where he served as a 1 Timothy 3 Deacon since 1987. He obtained good standing and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus. One of his biggest joys was singing in the Male Chorus until he received the great honor of being promoted to the heavenly choir. John accomplished many things in his life, but he was most proud of his children Angela (Frank) Austin of Memphis, Tennessee, John (Denise) Chearis of Somerville, Tennessee, Slyvia (Jonny) Marshall of Oakland Tennessee. Wendell Catron of Memphis, Tennessee. Rolla (Pamela) Catron of Southaven Mississippi and John Catron Jr. which proceeded him in death. To cherish his memory, John leaves five children, eighteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
FOR GRANDDAD They say there is a reason and they say that time will heal; but neither time nor reason will change the way we feel. A thousand words won’t bring you back and a thousand tears won’t because we tried. So let us tell you something so there won’t be no doubt, you’re so wonderful to think of but so hard to be without. Forever and always in our hearts, Your Grandchildren
