MISS ME BUT LET ME GO When I come to the end of the road
Reflections of a Life Well-Lived
And the sun has set for me I want no rites in a gloom-filled room. Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little but not too long And not with your head bowed low.

Miss me but let me go. For this is a journey that we all must take And each must go alone. It’s all a part of the Master’s plan, A step on the road to home. When you are lonely & sick of heart Go to the friends we know And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds. Miss me...but let me go!
Era Mae Gilland in Mt. Pleasant, Mississippi. He accepted Christ at Greater
H. Lester. He departed this life and entered into eternal rest quietly at his home surrounded by his family and friends on Saturday, May 27, 2017.
Joseph was a graduate of Lester High School and he was employed by Northwest Airlines until his retirement. After retirement, he returned to work briefly in a part-time capacity at Chickasaw Golf course until his health declined.
Joseph was a lover of all sports to include basketball, baseball and golf in which
he excelled as an athlete. He was inducted into the Memphis Amateur Athletic Hall of Fame for baseball in 1989 by the Memphis Park Commission. While
quiet in nature, he had unconditional love for his children and family, and he touched the lives of many through his athletic ability and social affiliations such as Tri-State Sports and many others.
One son, Lindsey “Chick” Gilland, one brother, Uris Gilland, Jr., and one sister, Earline G. Caldwell, preceded him in death.
To cherish his memory, Joseph leaves two daughters: Lise (Patrick) Parker and Latonya (Ulric) Morris; one son: Keith A. Jones; two sisters: Margaret Gilland
and Dorothy (Larry) Mells all of Memphis, Tennessee; three granddaughters: Keise Rone, Gracie Gilland and Lauren Gilland; six grandsons: Demario Gilland, Keith A. Jones, Jr, DeJuan Ingram, Jaszy Parker, Eric Robinson and
Lindsey Gilland; ten great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
