Obituary

“For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s.“ (Romans 14:8) Debra Hall-Lewis, 55 years old passed into eternity on Saturday, March 11, 2017, at St. Francis Hospital after a long battle with heart complications. Born to Shelly and Jewel (Palmer) Hall on March 22, 1961, the first born of five daughters, Debra was a very strong willed and determined leader. Academically gifted, she graduated from Mitchell High School class of 1979. She studied nursing at Shelby State Community College and began a career as a Registered Nurse spanning over 35 years. Her specialties included ICU, Burn and Trauma Units with many years spent at The Regional Medical Center at Memphis. She also participated in many traveling nurse programs, leading her to move across the country several times - particularly to California. She married Bruce Lewis, a union which produced two sons, Bruce Joshua Lewis Jr. and Bryce Joseph Lewis. Debra was known for being very outspoken with a wry sense of humor. She leaves four siblings: Gislese Hall-Adejola (Jacob), Lovel Hall-Bruce (Thomas), Shirley Hall-Werner (The late William), and Nyesa Hall; three stepdaughters, two grandchildren, Uncle James Palmer Sr. (Brenda), Uncle Glendell Palmer Sr. (Joyce), Christine Kaufman (The late Eugene), and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
